Everything Old Is New Again – 3D Printer Makes Vinyl Records Out Of MP3s | Just Tell Us about | Scoop.it

Making guns and electric guitars is pretty impressive, but it seems as though the current boom in 3D printing advancements has found found a proper use. Well, a proper, somewhat poetic use which is currently in beta stage. Researcher and Instructables DIY project site team member Amanda Ghassaei has discovered a way to use the technology to turn any MP3 into a fully functional vinyl record.

Why Crowdfunding Websites Work

Why Crowdfunding Websites Work | Just Tell Us about | Scoop.it

The past few years have seen an explosion in crowdfunded companies and as a result, both rewards crowdfunding sites and equity crowdfunding sites have grown in popularity as well. There's now a crowdfunding site for just about everything from yoga studios to medical devices. But what makes a crowdfunding website effective?

...crowdfunding is marketing, plain and simple.  If the idea of marketing to investors sounds foreign, consider the fact that it’s been the essence of fundraising since the dawn of time.

...good fundraisers are good marketers.  And like any good marketer, successful entrepreneurs consistently start with a very focused marketing plan.  They begin building their target lists well in advance of their crowdfunding campaign. They reach out to media outlets before they launch. They rally their early backers to get a surge of support on the day of their launch. It’s well planned, and not at all incidental.

... crowdfunding websites are being effectively used to capture different types of support simultaneously.

In days past, there were campaigns to drive affinity support (also known as charity), campaigns to drive a pre-order (video games, gadgets) and campaigns to solicit investors. Now all three can be done at the same time, which creates a huge new opportunity for entrepreneurs.

In Two Brown Girls Podcast 44, hosts Fariha Roisin and Zeba Blay dish out a brief recap of the Golden Globes and the Oscars, including Leonardo DiCaprio and the supermodel’s vagina, Matthew Mconnaughey’s douchey and self-absorbed speech, and how some actors perform in controversial roles just for the accolades they’ll receive and not for the societal impact they can make, because Hollywood is fucked up like that.

Quote "Among her other findings, Gackenbach has noted that gamers tend to have more "bizarre" dreams — those that include far-fetched or impossible scenarios, like imaginary characters or space travel — than their peers. Bizarre dreams, in turn, have also been linked to enhanced creative output in day-to-day life, suggesting (as Gackenbach has also found) that gaming might make us more creative in real-world scenarios."

Crowdfunding: Things That Will Piss People Off

Crowdfunding: Things That Will Piss People Off | Just Tell Us about | Scoop.it

So you just launched a Kickstarter campaign and you’re now ready to announce it to your family, friends, and fans (triple F). But before you compose your e-mail or status update, make sure you’re know what ticks people off when it comes to crowdfunding. Here are some of them:

- Using the “We’re Relatives” card more than once

- Asking too much too soon

- Posting on Facebook 10 times a day

- Pleading for cash rather than having the pre-order approach

- Appearing desperate

- Sending group messages

- Getting “out of reach” once the campaign becomes successful

CrowdsUnite is One-Stop Shop for Crowdfunding | Just Tell Us about | Scoop.it

CrowdsUnite bring order and transparency to the crowdfunding industry. There are over  800 funding websites globally and every week new ones are created for specific demographic, region or category.

They categorize all of the websites and allow users to filter, sort, and compare them (by country, industry/category, plarform type, campaign type). Each profile page has reviews and articles which help to validate the funding sites.+ News about crodwfunding platforms.

Site: http://crowdsunite.com

Just because a crowdfunding site is popular doesn’t mean it’s the most successful.

That’s why crowdsunite.com, a guide to the top 100 crowdfunding sites in the world, has begun adding two important metrics from leading campaign aggregator crowdfundfusion.com (http://crowdfundfusion.com/) to its site profiles: the campaign success rate and the average amount raised per campaign. These two figures, which are already featured in the profiles of Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and Rockethub,  will help those interested in crowdfunding find the platform most likely to meet their goals.

“There’s nothing more important in crowdfunding than picking the right platform,” said Alex Feldman, CEO of Crowdsunite.com.
