Challenges of a Multi-Ethnic Society

Challenges of a Multi-Ethnic Society | JuneholsAssignmenent | Scoop.it
Thaqiv Idraqie's insight:

I learned that a multi-ethnic society faces many challenges in order to maintain peace and tranquillity. Such factors that can contribute to conflicts happening in the society include race, religion and superiority. These factors play crucial measures in determining the sovereignty of the government. Should there be chaos and rioting to occur, the government may no longer be in power and the country will eventually plunge into a deep state of turmoil.

The first thoughts that come to my mind when I think of race being a factor was racism. It all boils to the belief that there is such a thing as racial supremacy to a particular party thinking that other races are inferior. This will eventually lead to collisions when it comes to settling agreements or even coming down to simple decisions. This applies to the other factors being religion and superiority as well.

LIFT: Limpeh Is Foreign Talent: How the rest of the world sees Singapore

Thaqiv Idraqie's insight:

Being in the global community revolves around the whole idea of how the world views Singapore, how the world infers and implies the definition of our nation from what we do, the achievements we make as well as the mischief we might have committed on a global scale. There are many reasons to put us in the global community as well as many others to kick us out. Hence, it all comes down to letting them know only the good reasons; it all comes down to one thing: impressions

By being in the global community Singapore has opened the doors to so many possibilities, let it be as a nation or as a benefit to individual citizens. It does so by instilling in the people the good habits of living so that people of other nationalities perceive us as likeable. Everyone of this nation is an ambassador of the country when he or she visits another country. By being good ambassadors, there will always be big shots from other countries having a good impression on our nation. Back to the possibilities of being in a global community, opportunities of having to host big events are more likely to come to us. Such events include the Olympics, Fifa World cup and many more, all of which allows us to boost our economic wealth. Singapore actually did host a big event once known as the Youth Olympic Games and it certainly elevated our reputation

From the blog depicting so many people, of different nationalities, views of our nation have given me more insights on the actual current state of our nation. It tells me that this country really did make a very good impression on other countries so much so that they might even find us superior. Let it be academically or from our job scopes.

Howard Schultz

Howard Schultz | JuneholsAssignmenent | Scoop.it
Starbucks' First Mate
Thaqiv Idraqie's insight:

(See-think-wonder)

I can see in Howard Schultz the desire to excel when he was young, to break out of the difficult times he is enduring for a better life in the future. I can tell he was learning from the hardships of his father, the determination to reflect from his father’s mistakes so that he can improve himself and be a better person. I can also suggest that he was a far sighted optimistic boy, seeing the setbacks of his childhood as a stepping stone to succeed.

I think that he has made some difficult choices in his life; choices that can significantly change his life should he have made the wrong decisions. Hence I can tell that he is rather wise personnel with cunning life skills despite his inferior background. His decisiveness of making entrepreneurial options to his favour is admirable and he deserves the riches he has worked so hard to earn

However, I wonder what it would do to him should he have not taken the right choices. What would happen if he did not have the correct mindset? The mindset to break out of his hardships and challenges that barricades him from succeeding. How would this affect the survival of starbucks? I believe this can also affect our lives to a certain extent

Violence and prejudice against gay people common, says EU study

Violence and prejudice against gay people common, says EU study | JuneholsAssignmenent | Scoop.it
One in four gay people in the European Union say they have faced violence because of their sexuality, according to a new report.
Thaqiv Idraqie's insight:

Prejudice. According to the oxford dictionary; prejudice, by definition, is the dislike or unjust behaviour due to preconceived or unfounded opinions. That is to say, prejudice against whatever it is, comes from one’s intention. A person can control himself whether or not to show prejudice towards a party. There can be many reasons why he may have chosen to act that way; let it be from his hereditary background, an event that may have happened, or just a mental illness. All in all, prejudice has led to some of the memorable events in the world today, in the year 2013.

An example is the discrimination and prejudice against homosexuals and gay marriage. The article cited showed how the people were looked differently by the society from the way they act and behave even though what they were doing was legally accepted. It goes to show that prejudice is an unfair act of injustice that happens on a regular basis. There will always be a handful who commits acts like that. It all comes down to the perception of the society. An act of prejudice to the eyes of one may be an act of justice to another. After all, one man’s thrash is another man’s treasure

Realizing Your Dreams and Goals

Realizing our dreams and accomplishing our goals can happen much faster if we employ these 3 important keys.
Thaqiv Idraqie's insight:

(Step Inside)

Even though the title of the article is ‘’ The 3 keys to Realizing you dreams and goals’’, a title neither containing words such as’ factors’ nor ‘possibilities’; I strongly belief the resemblance still holds within the article.

‘Dreams and goals’’ are similar to possibilities, they act as doors to allow one to achieve the person he or she desires to become.  From this article, there are three key factors that contribute to the realisation of reaching the possibilities. From these factors, it brings one closer and closer to achieving his dreams.

The first factor of clarity teaches me to have defined targets to achieve. It’s similar to having a good viewing- scope of a riffle that allows users to shoot targets as precise as possible. Similar to that analogy, being clear on what you want will definitely makes an easier route to achieving success as you will not easily get distracted by other elements in the course to achieving what you intend to.

The second factor is to simply take action; to put the money where your mouth is. It really stands to show that action certainly does speak louder than words. Without taking the first step, one would never get closer to reaching the possibilities; goes the famous saying: “A journey of a thousand miles begin with a single step”.  On a daily basis, people are troubled with a dangerous obstacle known as procrastination, the number one enemy that everyone should acknowledge when he decides to climb the ladder of success. Procrastination creates severe problems so much so that it even stops the first step from happening. Sad to say there is actually no way to allow someone else to stop the procrastination, the way to counter it comes from within. It is crucial that one turns on the switch to be proactive and enigmatic when it comes to committing the first step as the first step truly starts the mind to keep going onward.

The last factor of attracting your dream towards you is no doubt ambiguous from the countless of implications that it radiates. You can always have a misunderstanding of the factor whether you view it in the literal or either metaphorical sense. How can one possibly attract possibilities? Well the actual definition is astoundingly simple: surround yourself in the vision of attaining the possibility itself; that is to say it is once again starts in the mind. As long as you belief you are very close to achieving success, you will eventually result in events catalysing to your success. As a saying goes “opportunities only come to those that belief”.
