Out are obscure vocabulary words, mandatory essays, a deduction for incorrect answers and the 2400-point grading scale launched in 2005. In are questions that demand more analysis and familiarity with a narrower range of subjects as well as a return to the longtime 1600-point scale.

This bill (S441), waiting for the Governor's signature, would require a written policy to include “provisions designed to prevent improper communications between school employees and students made via e-mail, cellular phones, social networking websites, and other Internet-based social media.”
Are adolescents today “sexting” for popularity? Mobile phones are fully integrated into the social lives of today’s teenagers, and offer a sense of autonomy for those looking to hide from adult supervision.
