Shoryuken To Teach You To Play Fighting Games For Free

Shoryuken To Teach You To Play Fighting Games For Free | Fighting Games | Scoop.it
One of the most difficult things about getting into fighting games is the community. Not to say that they are actively forcing people out, but with their wealth of knowledge into the technical aspects of how to succeed in the FGC, it can become quite intimidating for a newcomer to get into games like Ultra Street […]
Jackwee Kang's insight:

Shoryuken's The Fighting Game Primer, along with Seth Killians' Domination 101 articles on Shoryuken and Justin Wong's column on EventHubs, are very good ways to learn the game, and I've learned so much from them, from learning the very basics (no mashing, please) to how to become a training room monster to how to prepare myself for tournaments. Absolutely wonderful way to introduce people to the unforgiving (yet incredibly rewarding) world of fighting games.

Jackwee Kang's insight:

Pretty old news, but very insightful look to the mind of the greatest 2D fighting gamer of all time, interviewed by the 'face' of the Fighting Game community. It's amazing how Daigo is able to play such level of footsies and fundamentals and bring a very middle-tier Ryu to such a high level.

Boring Boring Decapre

Jackwee Kang's insight:

Decapre is funny in the sense that she's a charge-character, but she also needs to rush down, which is counter-intuitive with the charge-character style of gameplay. Instead of being a competent offensive charge character that can rush down, she becomes a boring defensive charge character without  proper defensive tools

Daigo, Tokido, Bon-Chan, Itazan, Kazunoko and Momochi discussing USF4 just before EVO2014

Jackwee Kang's insight:

Possibly the single greatest discussion on FGC, the discussion really displays the personality of each of the six great players. Daigo mentioning that most "anti-fireball" techniques actually only refers to Ryu's fireball more than anything else is especially interesting and reflects how deeply he knows his character. It's also amazing to finally learn why Daigo has finally gone to the dark side and decided to play Evil Ryu instead of Ryu. In many ways, E. Ryu is just Ryu but better, albeit a little more predictable with its over reliance on c.MK to Hadouken. Bullying Kazunoko for picking Yun also never gets old.

Fei Is Not Dead!

Jackwee Kang's insight:

Many people thought that, with the amount of nerfs Fei Long received during the USFIV update, Fei Long would be dead. Well, they thought wrong, with Mago (arguably the 2nd best Fei player in the world) still telling people and teaching people that Fei is still relevant
