Directrices editoriales. Valores y criterios de la BBC

Directrices editoriales. Valores y criterios de la BBC | Journalism: the citizen side | Scoop.it

Reconstruire Haïti, an "innovative newsgame", won an ONA Online Journalism Award

Reconstruire Haïti, an "innovative newsgame", won an ONA Online Journalism Award | Journalism: the citizen side | Scoop.it

"This interactive piece, produced by a French team composed of Florent Maurin, Jean Abbiateci, Pierre Morel, Perceval Barrier and published on Rue89.fr uses a mixture of longform journalism, multimedia and gaming elements to help readers understand the problems facing Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.

According to Florent Maurin, the journalist and game designer behind the project, “this award is very important because it recognizes the quality of an unconventional project (here involving newsgaming) about a difficult topic (Haiti), which would have been very tough to produce within a newsroom, and without the support of the IDR Grant programme.”"

Which story would you read? One with the headline, “McCrory: Match training to employers’ needs,” and which starts: “More than 18,000 people in Guilford County are looking for a job. But employers can’t fill 1,500 openings for skilled workers.”
Or
One with the headline, “Gov. Interesse público no jornalismo: uma justificativa moral codificada

Interesse público no jornalismo: uma justificativa moral codificada | Journalism: the citizen side | Scoop.it

Think-tanks and journalism: making the headlines

“RATLIKE cunning, a plausible manner and a little literary ability”—the qualities of a successful journalist, according to Nicholas Tomalin, one of the breed—are not traditionally valued in think-tanks, the semi-academic institutions that come up with ideas for politicians. Their policy papers are meant to be dry; their wonks more like politicised civil servants than hacks. But increasingly think-tanks are doing journalism—not just blogging and tweeting but foreign reporting, too. Deskbound journalists, meanwhile, are embracing data and spreadsheets."

Media Literacy and Learning Commons in the Digital Age: Toward a Knowledge Model

Media Literacy and Learning Commons in the Digital Age: Toward a Knowledge Model | Journalism: the citizen side | Scoop.it

"School libraries today feel increasing pressure to reinvent themselves in the face of increasing financial pressures, new media technologies, and a progressively media-savvy population.
