To me, this is all relates to a central question: Is publishing a business, or is it a public trust? As a business, book publishers sell what makes money, and there's nothing wrong with that. If publishing is a public trust, they should seek to make the world a better place.

 

But if publishing is a public trust, who should be running it? Should we still be able to buy stock in it?
