It is dangerous for any country, including America, to see itself as exceptional, whatever its motivation.
Amelia Arsenault's insight:

Russian leader, Vladamir Putin released an editorial in this mornings New York Times.  Regardless of the changes threatening print media, newspapers remain an important conduit for international relations.  Moreover, by publishing this in the leading paper in the United States, Putin insured that other news organizations (online, radio, and television) would cover this story.  This is a great example of the important inter-connections between different types of media and of the use of media by a politician to try to create linkages at the societal level.
