Great to see climate change take center stage at the Democratic National Convention tonight. The Democrats just ratified the strongest climate platform ever. The platform recognizes global warming as "an urgent threat and a defining challenge of our time" and declares the United States must take the lead in "forging a robust global solution to the climate crisis." Hillary Clinton wants the United States to be a clean energy superpower.

A prominent climate scientist has declared a global climate emergency after observing the jet stream in the Northern Hemisphere crossing the equator and mixing with the jet stream in the Southern Hemisphere.

A $40 million grant from the Department of Energy was awarded for North America's first offshore freshwater wind farm, located on Lake Erie about eight to 10 miles northwest of downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

I worked for a summer at Camp Tawonga so Yosemite is a special place for me.

"Unlike a storm of the century, with sea-level rise the water comes in slowly and never leaves. It just keeps rising until the ice sheets are all but gone (or they reach a thermal equilibrium and stop melting). At a recent talk to engineers and policymakers in the Netherlands, Matthijs Bouw, a Dutch architect who is working on the Big U, flashed an image of New York with buildings poking out of the water like trees in a swamp. 'This is the conversation that isn't taking place,' Bouw told the group."

In 2014, researchers used traps and cameras to try to determine how many Bramble Cay melomys were left on a tiny outcrop in the Great Barrier Reef. They found none.

Human-caused climate change has claimed its first victim. An Australian rodent called the Bramble Cay melomys is the first documented extinction of a mammal species due to man-made global warming. Time to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and restore ecosystems to draw down atmospheric carbon to save other species, including Homo sapiens.
