'They are savages,' say Christians forced to flee Mosul by Isis

'They are savages,' say Christians forced to flee Mosul by Isis | Green Forward | Scoop.it
Hundreds have found shelter in areas between Mosul and Irbil that are controlled by Kurdish Peshmerga fighters
Josh Marks's insight:

Where is the global outrage over the Islamic State (Isis) forcing Iraqi Christians in Mosul to convert to Islam, pay a religious tax, or face death? Oh yeah. That's right. The world is too busy bashing the only democracy in the Middle East for defending its citizens from Hamas terrorist rockets.

Demilitarizing Gaza – an international responsibility

Demilitarizing Gaza – an international responsibility | Green Forward | Scoop.it
Implying that Gazans are “denied dignity” by Israel is twisting reality, as Hamas is to blame for betraying its own people and condemning them to misery.
Josh Marks's insight:

"Demilitarization of Gaza under international supervision is the only appropriate course of action. A cease-fire is not the goal, but a first step in toppling the terrorist regime in Gaza and neutralizing its deadly capabilities."

In Support of Gaza, Berlin Imam Prays for the Annihilation of Jews, "the Slayers of Prophets" - YouTube

Josh Marks's insight:

A Berlin Imam calls for the genocide of Jews in Israel. Hamas is part of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood was an ally of Nazi Germany. Hamas has the same genocidal hatred of Jews that Hitler had. There can be no cease-fire and no peace with Hamas any more than there could be against Nazi Germany.

French prime minister: Behind hatred of Israel lies hatred of Jews | Green Forward | Scoop.it
The prime minister condemns the use of anti-Zionist rhetoric as a cover up of anti-Semitic opinions.
Josh Marks's insight:

May there be more political leaders around the world with the courage of French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, who condemned the use of anti-Zionist rhetoric as a cover up of anti-Semitic opinions, and condemned "an anti-Semite who hides his hatred of the Jew behind an appearance of anti-Zionism and the hatred of Israel."

Hamas got rich as Gaza was plunged into poverty

Hamas got rich as Gaza was plunged into poverty | Green Forward | Scoop.it
News: With multi-million-dollar land deals, luxury villas and black market fuel from Egypt, Gaza's rulers made billions while the rest of the population struggled with 38-percent poverty and 40-percent unemployment.
Josh Marks's insight:

Talk about income inequality. While the corrupt Hamas rejects the Egyptian cease-fire and continues to fire rockets into Israel, the terrorist group's leaders have made billions over the years while the rest of the Gaza population struggled with 38-percent poverty and 40-percent unemployment. Their extreme wealth is also one reason Egypt hates Hamas:

"The Egyptian street has become inflamed with anger directed against Hamas over the last three years, partly due to what appears to be its financial gains at the expense of the Egyptian people. The tunnels in Rafah, the town straddling the Gaza-Egypt border, for example, saw a flourishing fuel-smuggling industry from Sinai. The fuel subsidized by the Egyptian government was entering Gaza at a low price, but being sold for eight times that. Those who made the greatest profits from the sale of the fuel were Hamas members, even as Egypt often reported shortages for its own people.

Hamas, says Professor Ahmed Karima of Al-Azhar University in Egypt, has long become a movement of millionaires. According to Karima, the organization can count no less than 1,200 millionaires among its members. He did not, however, specify the source of this information."

Build a 21st Century Economy? GOP Stalls Even the Highway Bill. | Green Forward | Scoop.it
Conservatives have blocked every significant plan for investing in jobs and growth since the stimulus. They claim they have an alternative, but their program has so damaged the recovery it deserves to be called what it is: economic sabotage....
Josh Marks's insight:

71% of Americans support increasing government investment to build and repair roads, bridges, high-speed rail, smart electric grid technology and other infrastructure needs. The American Society of Civil Engineers last year gave American infrastructure a grade of D+. To raise the grades and get our infrastructure at an acceptable level, a total investment of $3.6 trillion is needed by 2020. It's time for Congress to reauthorize funding to fix our crumbling infrastructure.

Jerusalem hails European condemnation of Hamas violence; EU condemns rocket fire, calls for renunciation of violence.
Josh Marks's insight:

Europe must be sick of the Jew hate rallies in their major cities. A surprising moment of moral clarity from the European Union in a statement strongly condemning "the indiscriminate firing of rockets into Israel by Hamas and militant groups in the Gaza Strip, directly harming civilians. These are criminal and unjustifiable acts.” The statement also called on Hamas to immediately put an end to its rocket attacks, and to renounce violence. "All terrorist groups in Gaza must disarm. The EU strongly condemns calls on the civilian population of Gaza to provide themselves as human shields."

Egyptian citizen, Ahmad, supports Israel. Not only Egypt, but Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates support Israel's defensive war against Hamas. From DEBKAfile: "Israel, for its part, is fighting for the first time in its history with solid Arab backing from the Egyptian-Saudi-United Arab Emirates bloc. So determined are its members to obliterate the Muslim Brotherhood that they have virtually blacklisted Qatar for supporting the Brothers and for patronizing the Palestinian Hamas, regarded as the MB’s paramilitary arm."

Bill Clinton Hamas "Crass Strategy" is to Kill Palestinians - YouTube

Bill Clinton: Hamas' "Crass Strategy" is to Kill Palestinians Hamas was perfectly well aware of what would happen if they started raining rockets into Israel...
Josh Marks's insight:

Bill Clinton nails it: "Hamas was perfectly well aware of what would happen if they started raining rockets into Israel. They fired one thousand and they have a strategy designed to force Israel to kill their own civilians so that the rest of the world will condemn them. They (Israel) know when Hamas attacks them that Hamas has set up a situation which politically it can't lose, because they (Israelis) can say 'well if I attack them back they always hide behind civilians and I'll kill civilians, and if I don't we'll look like fools letting somebody shoot a thousand rockets at us and not responding.' In the short and medium term Hamas can inflict terrible public relations damage by forcing (Israel) to kill Palestinian civilians to counter Hamas. But it's a crass strategy that takes all of our eyes off the real objective which is a peace that gets Israel security and recognition and a peace that gets the Palestinians their state."

Egyptian ceasefire proposal leaves Hamas cornered

Egyptian ceasefire proposal leaves Hamas cornered | Green Forward | Scoop.it
Either the Islamists accept near-humiliating terms, or they risk isolation and a stepped-up Israeli military assault
Josh Marks's insight:

Good analysis. Looks like Hamas loses either way and it looks like the terrorist organization will reject the cease-fire: "Hamas’s problem is that if it rejects the Egyptian proposal it will find itself unprecedentedly isolated in the international community and the Arab world. Cairo will accuse it of torpedoing the opportunity for calm, and Jerusalem will have the legitimacy to mount a ground offensive into Gaza."
