John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL is an All-Around Nice Person

John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL treats others the way he wants to be treated.

John Gaughan Crystal Lake IL's insight:

When you think of a nice person, do you think of someone who gives to charity or spends time with the elderly in nursing homes? Or do you think of someone who regularly goes out of his way to help his neighbor, friend, or colleague? All of these practices are things that John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL does – and then some.

“I first met John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL when I got a flat tire on the expressway and he pulled over to help me change my tire. It was ninety-five degrees outside and he thought nothing of getting out of his car in his nice suit and getting a bit greasy. We have been friends ever since,” says a close friend. He simply treats people the way he would like to be treated. It seems so simple and it is amazing that more people don’t adhere to that way of thinking.

“As a young man, he was always helping me around the house,” recalls the mother of John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL. “I never had to ask him to do something twice and he seemed to generally enjoy helping me out. When other mothers complained about their lazy teenage sons, I had quite the opposite to say.” He always felt that his mother worked so hard for the whole family, so how could he not lend a hand when he could? Also, he viewed the opportunities to help as a time to learn as well.

“When we were in college, we lived by these guys who were always playing tricks on this one guy who kept to himself. John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL did not like this at all as the jokes were mean-spirited. He would not retaliate, but started quite deliberately inviting the young man to hang out with us. When those guys saw that he did have some friends, they laid off,” recalls a roommate of John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL.

John Gaughan has always been mature and knew the proper tactics even early on. He never fights fire with fire but kills with kindness. Anyone who meets him agrees that he is an all-around nice guy.

John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL Trains New Employees on Web-based System

John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL is comfortable training his employees on their web-based system.

John Gaughan Crystal Lake IL's insight:

John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL never thought he would be on board when his supervisors told him that he would use a computer to help train living, breathing employees. He comes from a time when a person shadowed you while you worked or took over your duties until he or she “got the hang of it.” Now, he is talking to people about logging on to a website, following prompts, and answering questionnaires. When they are finished learning those tasks, they are trained to do the job.

“I’m glad that I did not shy away from this use of technology and web-based program. If I did, I would be archaic – and probably out of a job,” laughs John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL. He is not necessarily a whiz with technology but the system was easy enough to get accustomed to using. Also, he realized it was a priority that he learn the system through and through, so that the new employees would be able to come to him with questions.

Luckily, John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL caught on quickly and was able to get his company’s new employees up and running in no time. “He is a team player, a leader and is so versatile in everything he does. We would not be as successful as we are today if it was not for his work ethic and determination,” adds his supervisor of many years. Many of the people the company is now hiring are quite comfortable with the constant use of technology and online databases. They tend to be younger and have truly grown up in this era.

Still, one thing he always reminds people is that while the online training seems to cover just about every scenario humanly possible, there is almost always something missing. The interactions between the humans that need to work together and the clients they need to serve is never something you can automate. John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL still trains his employees on the floor for that real, personal experience. “It is amazing, though, how much we are able to accomplish on a computer in this day in age,” says John Gaughan of Crystal Lake, IL.
