An active youngster who enjoys playing sports and traveling with his family, Ogden O’Reilly-Hyland lives in New York City, where he attends Avenues, a private elementary school dedicated to providing a global, socially minded education. Ogden O’Reilly-Hyland spends his free time hanging out with friends, developing his skills at squash where he plays in the National Association league, and volunteering with and donating to international charities. Some of his favorite sports include downhill skiing, surfing and trekking. He has surfed at beaches in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic as well at home.
Ogden O’Reilly-Hyland regularly travels with his family on leisure trips that involve not for nonprofit work. In the past, he visited the Fabretto Children’s Foundation’s headquarters in Nicaragua and helped some of the organization’s 7,000 children make jewelry from soda cans. The jewelry and bric a brac is sold in the states to raise money enabling the children to stay in school. Ogden O’Reilly-Hyland and his family also contribute to The Mariposa DR Foundation, an organization dedicated to empowering women in the Dominican Republic. In 2014, he will visit Cape Town, South Africa, to show his support with his family for the Ubuntu South Africa group his family also supports.
