Durham University are seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate for a European Research Council funded project on the experience and meaning of citizenship for youth in three countries that have experienced division and conflict: South Africa, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Lebanon. The project examines the efforts of international organisations, civil society organisations and states to foster citizenship amongst youth. The project's critical intervention is in extending the analysis of these efforts to consider the ways in which youth interpret, experience, challenge, and potentially remake citizenship. Research Associate, Remaking Capitalism (maternity cover) - The University of Manchester - jobs.ac.uk | Jobs in Geography | Scoop.it

The ESRC Centre for Research on Socio-Cultural Change (CRESC) is the first major Research Centre in Britain to develop a broad, empirically focused account of cultural change and its economic, social and political implications (see www.cresc.ac.uk for further details). CRESC research is organised into themes and this post will play a key role in supporting CRESC's Theme One onRemaking Capitalism. This includes some 15 researchers from Manchester Business School and several social science disciplines including anthropology, geography, political science and sociology at the Open University as well as Manchester. The group's research is clustered around three sets of related questions about financial innovation, money and borders as well as a shared interest in elites. Using a variety of methods and sources, Theme One researchers have produced culturally-informed, pioneering analyses of financialization in several books which have attracted international attention and more recently their politically-relevant work on banking reform and economic renewal (including a public interest report on pig meat) has gained a considerable media profile.
