You’ve done all the hard work and come out the other side. You’ve been offered an interview. It’s gone well so far and you are on a high that it’s coming to an end. Then they ask you “Do you have any questions for us?” This is crunch time. Now is not the time to relax. Now it’s all about you. In this article from Inc. Jerome Ternynck highlights how interviews are a two way street. Use this golden opportunity to ask questions to evaluate the job to see whether it really matches your expectations. This will to elevate you above other candidates in your interest in the position and understanding of the role and how you can contribute to their future and solve the problem they are hiring for.

It will also allow you to find out straight from the horse’s mouth whether the organisational culture suits you, what your priorities will be in the first few months, whether they encourage you to challenge yourself with developmental and career progression opportunities, what the management style is like, how you would be appraised, how decisions are made and the teams you will be working with.

How have you dealt with this question? Have you found yourself unprepared and stumped? Have you used it to ask great questions that got you the job? Or has it helped you decide that actually the job didn’t meet your needs? Share your experiences with us.
