JM CROATIA: Musical season in Grožnjan
Between the end of May and until the first half of October, the sunny World Meeting Center of Jeunesses Musicales in Groznjan will become once more a global hub for young musicians and art afficionados through over 50 confirmed activities. JM Croatia has outdone themselves once more by scheduling a musically diverse and thematically attractive series of workshops, seminars, conferences and camps ranging from live drumming, to jazz, classical or world music under the musical mentorship of world renowned musicians.

On May 13 in the Ministry of Culture a press conference on the concert program “Hollywood Non-Stop” was held, which is represented by the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia. At the press conference Deputy Minister of Culture of Armenia Artur Poghosyan, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern, VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia Sergey Smbatyan spoke.
On the 15th and 16th of May the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia will perform soundtracks of famous Hollywood films within the framework of the concert program “Hollywood Non-Stop” at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall.
Deputy Minister of Culture of Armenia Artur Poghosyan marked that the Youth Orchestra once again would represent the project, which had been launched in 2012. “It is a very interesting, new and creative program. It represents soundtracks of famous Hollywood films and, therefore, introduces classical music to the population of marzes of Armenia too. They say, young people often make mistakes, but it seems like this does not refer to our youth. Art lovers always attend concerts of the Youth Orchestra with pleasure”, said A. Poghosyan.
The U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern noted that “Hollywood Non-Stop” is a very interesting project, “I attended the concerts in Yerevan and Vanadzor, and judging from the reaction of the audience such program is necessary for young people, because the project presents the best music”.

En el jardín trasero, junto a la biblioteca y al almacén, Mlengah practica con su guitarra sentada sobre un escenario vacío, anfitrión de los grandes conciertos. La rutina vespertina de Music Crossroads Malaui parece ajena a la nueva etapa que la ONG encara. Music Crossroads Malawi vela y difunde una educación musical para los más jóvenes en el país sudafricano. Asentada en el extrarradio de la ciudad de Lilongüe, en el Área 23, llegó a Malawi en el año 2000 y está de enhorabuena debido a que recientemente se ha inaugurado su academia de música.
Distintos miembros del equipo ha pasado días desembalando y etiquetando todo el material recibido por Yamaha. El comportamiento de la compañía japonesa ha sido esencial a la hora de recibir instrumentos. En la biblioteca se instalan los ordenadores y las estanterías rebosan llenas de volúmenes musicales donados por la Biblioteca Nacional de Lilongwe. Todavía se puede percibir el olor que guardan los libros sin estrenar.

In April we witnessed the kick-off of the Bayimba festival season in Gulu. May is approaching rapidly and promises to be a month full of great events. Jinja to welcome DOADOA delegates! The 2nd edition of DOADOA will come to Jinja, from 6th to 11th of May 2013. El avance del campo tecnológico también tiene cabida en la formación de los profesionales del campo musical, por lo que El Sistema Nacional de Orquestas y Coros Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela recibe con agrado la donación de computadoras de última generación, por parte de la empresa Samsung Electronics, cuyo acto de formalización tuvo lugar en el Centro de Acción Social por la Música. Se trata de 100 laptops que serán entregadas en el mes de mayo, para ser incorporadas a los programas de estudio de los niños y jóvenes que forman parte de El Sistema fundado por el maestro José Antonio Abreu hace 38 años. Durante la firma del convenio para la entrega de los equipos, los representantes de ambas instituciones acordaron extender la relación para profundizar la cooperación entre Corea y Venezuela. Por su parte José Antonio Abreu, Director- Fundador de El Sistema Nacional de las Orquestas y Coros Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela, recibió en nombre de los integrantes de todos los núcleos el apoyo de la empresa Samsung Electronics, extendiendo la relación a un convenio de cooperación e intercambio que permita facilitar el desarrollo de nuevos programas educativos para el rescate social con la música. El maestro Abreu expresó: "Ofrecemos nuestro más efusivo agradecimiento y nos comprometemos firmemente a continuar multiplicando las acciones de este proyecto a todos los ámbitos de la vida de nuestros niños. Esperamos igualmente ser los más fieles colaboradores para la empresa Samsung en sus iniciativas en favor de la juventud y la infancia venezolana." JM Croatia announces the first International Guitar Competition which will take place in Groznjan from the 20th until the 25th of June and which will be accompanied by a workshop. The workshop is open for beginner and professional guitar players and aims to develop techinques and interpretations and will be tutored by renowned guitar players such as Goran Perišic, Danijel Cerovic, Goran Krivokapic (MK), Admir Doci (AT) and others. For the competition, candidates can submit their application in five different age categories and should prepare with at least two compositions which will be judged by a jury consisting of prominent international and local guitar players and pedagogues. YO! Fest will reach this year it’s 4th consecutive edition, establishing it as a hallmark youth event happening in the heart of the EU Parliament which will become a hub for youth around Europe for two days of debates, workshops and conferences. To make it complete, the YO! JM ROMANIA: International Conducting Competition
The registrations for the 4th edition of Jeunesses Musicales International Conducting Competition organized by JM Bucharest are now open. It offers the chance to all the musicians of all nationalities, to take crucial part in creating european values and prove their personal skills on international level. The competition aims young conductors, Music Academy students and graduates, age up to 35. The four stages of the competition will take place between 26th and 30th August, 2013. The contestants will compete for money prizes and for the chance to conduct the philharmonic orchestras of Craiova,Timisoara, Sibiu, Kielce and Vaasa. Deadline for registrations: 1st of July! El nou Concurs de joves intèrprets de les comarques gironines DBUT! ja té finalistes. Després que s'hagin examinat les diferents propostes i artistes presentats en les eliminatòries prèvies, els jurats de les tres modalitats del concurs han decidit per unanimitat que accedissin a les finals els següents grups: Thalassa i Germà Negre pel què fa a la modalitat ARREL; Lucas Martínez & Félix Rossy Quintet i Eladio de Limón pel que fa a JAZZ; i finalment Quintet DaCap i Marc Serra en CLÀSSICA Aquests grups es converteixen doncs en els primers finalistes del nou certamen. Els tres jurats, integrats per tres experts cadascun, han coincidit a destacar l’alt nivell musical i interès artístic de les propostes presentades. En concret havien estat admeses a les eliminatòries prèvies 6 grups en la modalitat ARREL, 5 en la de JAZZ i 11 en CLÀSSICA. La bona participació i la qualitat interpretativa de les propostes presentades són un bon símptoma de la vitalitat musical de les comarques gironines i un excel·lent auguri per a properes edicions de DBUT! Els grups finalistes actuaran en els concerts-finals de les seves respectives modalitats. El divendres 10 de maig a les 21 h a l’Auditori de l’Ateneu de Banyoles tindrà lloc la final d’ARREL, el dissabte 11 de maig a les 21 h a La Cate de Figueres serà el torn de JAZZ i el diumenge 12 de maig a les 19 h a l’Auditori Viader de la Casa de Cultura de Girona se celebrarà la final de la modalitat CLÀSSICA. Els concerts són gratuïts i es plantegen en dues parts, protagonitzades cadascuna per un dels dos finalistes. El públic podrà dir-hi la seva, votar en les butlletes que s’habilitaran per l’ocasió als propis espais de concert i el seu vot total comptabilitzarà un terç del vot que decidirà els guanyadors. Els altres dos seran emesos pel jurat d’experts.

JM CANADA's Montreal International Music Competition 2013: Violin
Montreal, Monday, May 6, 2013 – The Montreal International Musical Competition officially announces the candidates’ order of appearance and the detailed schedule for the Quarter Final round, determined by means of a random draw this Monday, May 6. Please note that following the withdrawal of Mr. Jonian Elias Kadesha (Greece), the number of candidates is now 23. Two of the international jury members, Ms. Kathleen Winkler and Mr. Martin T. Engstroem, also regretfully announced that they are unable to attend the competition in Montreal. Mr. Mark Kaplan, from the United Sates, and Mr. Vladimir Landsman, from Canada, will replace them.
The announcement of the semi-finalists will be made following the last Quarter Final session on Thursday, May 9. The complete musical programme of each round is available at www.concoursmontreal.ca Twelve violinists will be chosen for the Semi-finals and six for the Finals. The announcement of the laureates will be made following the last final session on Wednesday, May 15. Here's the candidates' order of appearance at the Concours Musical International de Montréal.

Régis Pasquier, one of our international jury members, will offer a master class, which is open to the public and he will share his expertise with selected young violinists.
The MIMC plays a key role in the finest tradition of classical concert music. The Competition seeks to discover and support young singers, violinists, and pianists who have distinguished themselves as masters of their art. Since the very first edition, dedicated to voice in 2002, nearly 2,000 candidates have applied to take part in the various editions, and, of these, more than 300 were given the opportunity to perform in Montreal, to the great delight of music lovers. The MIMC is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions, and of the Alink-Argerich Foundation.

Programa mostra o trabalho de Jovens Orquestras latino-americanas
Orquestra Sinfônica Juvenil Da Bahia – NEOJIBA
Fundamentado pelo programa venezuelano El Sistema, o NEOJIBA agrega vários núcleos orquestras com crianças e jovens de todo o estado da Bahia. Foi fundado pelo músico bahiano Ricardo Castro e conta com apoio do Governo do Estado, parcerias privadas e do Teatro Castro Alves. Por meio dessa rede de formações orquestrais, funciona ainda um projeto de capacitação de jovens nas áreas de produção cultural, radiodifusão, manutenção de A Orquestra Sinfônica Juvenil da Bahia é um dos grupos que compõem o NEOJIBA e reúne os músicos com melhor desempenho nas orquestras do programa e faz concertos públicos pelo Brasil e em turnês internacionais.
