What Are The 3 Most Important Things Businesses Need To Know About Social Media?

What Are The 3 Most Important Things Businesses Need To Know About Social Media? | Information Technology & Social Media News | Scoop.it

...

The Three Keys To Social Media:

Engagement Value Marketing

Starting  with the most important key first…

Engagement

Part of being social is communicating and engaging with people.

If your objective on social media is just to promote your product and avoid any communication, you’ll probably have a difficult time achieving that goal. Consumers are on Facebook and Twitter to interact with people and brands. If you’re brand isn’t engaging with them, you might ask well eliminate your hopes for selling more product through these channels.

Why engagement is key to social media success:

People are using more than just email and phone calls to communicate with brands; many are now tweeting or posting on Facebook pages. If a brand doesn’t respond to any inquires on Facebook or Twitter, then it’s equivalent to not answering emails and not picking up the phone.

Value

Providing value to users can increase your retweets and shares. Provide valuable links that stay within a niche.

Fans are following you because they either like your brand or like what you’ve been tweeting / posting. The worst thing you can do is to take a 180 degree turn and start posting off topic subjects. Whatever your industry is, it’s important to tweet and post things within “your” topic.

Marketing

Social media is not an advertising platform. However, it can and should be used as a place to occasionally promote your latest offerings and sale.

It is important to find the right balance between your usual tweets and the promotional tweets. You do want to promote your brand; you just don’t want to do it too often. You’ll want anywhere from 5-10% of your tweets to be promotional.

As an analogy, think of social media like television. If all a network did was broadcast their programming, they wouldn’t make any money. But if all they did was broadcast commercials, they wouldn’t have any viewers. They need to strike the right balance, and many of them have done that. For most networks, about 30% of their broadcast is advertisements; the other 70% is programming.

When approaching social media the right way, you can build relationships with current and prospective customers, update fans on your business activity, build loyalty and possibly make a sale. The key is to have a balance.

Is Your B2B Company Getting Ahead or Dead on these 21 B2B Marketing Basics? via Brian Yanish - MarketingHits.com | Information Technology & Social Media News | Scoop.it

Staying competitive in the B2B marketing space seems overwhelming for a lot of marketers right now with all the hype about everything from content marketing to programmatic ad buying.

While I am a firm believer companies do need to stay on top of what’s new, continuously experiment, adapt and evolve, there’s still quite a bit of low hanging fruit when it comes to B2B marketing tactics.

What are those easy pickings you ask? It’s marketing fundamentals! But you say, “Nah, we’ve been to the basics mountain, summited and back. Been there, done that.”

Here’s the thing about online marketing basics: the nature of the tactics persist, but the data that supports them along with execution have undoubtedly changed.

Here’s a list of 21 B2B online marketing tactics that you can review to see if you’re up to date on the data that informs your approach and the way you execute. When is the last time you revisited, analyzed and optimized the performance of these essential marketing tactics?

3 Warning Signs Your Company is Not Ready for Social Media

3 Warning Signs Your Company is Not Ready for Social Media | Information Technology & Social Media News | Scoop.it

You hear it everywhere: Social Media is the place to be. You hear it on the media, you hear it from your progressive employees and/or salespeople, heck, you might even hear it from your own head. A little man sits on your shoulder everyday saying, “You better pay attention here, you’re missing out!”

Wherever the message is coming from, social media marketing and advertising sounds pretty good. The trouble is, as the business owner or manager, you’re not a user of social and there’s a lot about it you may not know.

Change #Management Requires #Leadership Clarity and Alignment

Change #Management Requires #Leadership Clarity and Alignment | Information Technology & Social Media News | Scoop.it
Change management is in full-force across all industries, yet many leaders are unprepared to act upon and operationalize the requirements for change to avoid business disruption. For many organizations, preparedness begins at the top and this means that leadership – across all levels – must have absolute clarity in purpose and focus; there also must be alignment in strategic philosophy and resolution goals.

Unfortunately, many organizations are slow to change as the internal politics makes it difficult to reach consensus across all levels of leadership – even when the necessity for change is urgent. This is why many companies unknowingly lose momentum as they fail to change fast enough -- allowing the marketplace and competitors to pass them by. The result: valuable time is misspent, resources applied and money invested without the required outcomes to stay competitive, keep clients satisfied and employees engaged.

Meet Their Needs: Using Influence and Motivation In Marketing

Meet Their Needs: Using Influence and Motivation In Marketing | Information Technology & Social Media News | Scoop.it

Five star general and 34th president of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower, is credited with saying, “Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to."

To influence someone doesn’t mean that you make the decision for them. Rather, it means that you present persuasive reasons for them to make a decision that you want them to make. They’re still deciding, you’re just helping them make your decision.Basically, you show them why they should be motivated.

If you’re trying to get people to make the decision to click your link, read your blog post, download your eBook, subscribe to your feed, request your quote, buy your product, or purchase your service, you must influence them in a way that makes them motivated to do so....
