Healthy Education: A Proposal

Healthy Education: A Proposal | Jewish Education Around the World | Scoop.it

Unfortunately, a lot of the methods these educators employ and the kinds of things that they say are often not strikingly different from many other things students experience and hear from good, well-meaning people. They are different in measure and severity, but not necessarily in kind. In my experience, the educational methods of the abuser (though of course not the physical abuse) lie at one extreme end of a broad continuum that is otherwise tolerated. And because of that, the ability to differentiate becomes much tougher.

Another scandal: Let’s not miss the point this time around

Another scandal: Let’s not miss the point this time around | Jewish Education Around the World | Scoop.it

Another scandal. Another rabbi/educator accused of all kinds of outrageous, inappropriate behavior with female students. This time it is severe enough that rabbis who live across the world, in Israel, New York and Los Angeles, and who span the Modern Orthodox-Chareidi-Chasiddishe spectrum, have come together to sign a letter warning the public to stay away. This time the person involved is thought to have performed hundreds (!) of indecent acts and to have ruined countless lives.

And yet with all the talking, I feel that the real issue is not being spoken about at all. And therefore, despite my deep reluctance to write publicly about any person or place, I want to tell another part of this story.

The Russians Are Here (North America)

The Russians Are Here (North America) | Jewish Education Around the World | Scoop.it
. Cloistered in dense Russian-speaking enclaves like Brooklyn’s Brighton Beach neighborhood, the Jews who managed to secure exit visas under the Jackson-Vanik amendment to the Trade Act of 1974 – which compelled countries with restrictive emigration policies, including the Soviet Union, to loosen them in exchange for economic benefits – had other concerns, like tackling the hardships of navigating a new country: learning English, acquiring degrees and diplomas, finding jobs. “It was like they were parachuting in from Mars, and acculturation was pretty intensive,” Kliger said of the new immigrants, many of whom arrived as highly trained academics, scientists and engineers but found themselves marginalized on the U.S. labor market.

Using Technology to Enhance Jewish Identity and Values

Using Technology to Enhance Jewish Identity and Values | Jewish Education Around the World | Scoop.it
What sets Judaic subjects apart is the emphasis on Jewish experience. In Judaic studies, we are not only teaching a set of skills and the content itself, but seeking to instill a way of life - what Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik z”l called the Torat Imecha - and the love, feeling and experience of Judaism. A student’s rebbeim and morot not only teach material but also represent Jewish identity and values. Obviously, there are many ways to instill positive Jewish experiences for our students, and I believe that technology is a positive and powerful tool for our students to explore numerous avenues of creativity and self-expression. Technology also affords them a much wider audience for their achievements.

How to Recover Data from Not Formatted Hard Drive

How to Recover Data from Not Formatted Hard Drive | Jewish Education Around the World | Scoop.it
If your external hard drive keeps asking you to format it after you have tried all kinds of solutions, you can download free MiniTool Power Data Recovery which is an excellent program that brings file recovery to Windows to have a try. Follow these steps to carry out data recovery process from not formatted external hard drive:

Step 1. Launch MiniTool Power Data Recovery, and then select "Damaged Partition Recovery". You can see this module is specially designed for recovering data from damaged, RAW, or formatted partition when moving mouse over it. So it is most suitable for not formatted hard drive data recovery.

Step 2. Then select the external hard drive to have a full scan (We take a 16 GB Kinston flash drive for example here). The scanning time depends on the capacity of your data in it.

Step 3. When the scanning is finished, Power Data Recovery will show you the files it has found in the hard drive in tree structure. Tick the files and click "Preview" to check whether the files are the right ones. Note: you can press "Filter" button to choose specific file types to be shown in the middle pane.

Step 4. In this step you are expected to click "Save" and then choose a safe location (usually it is another hard drive) to store all data you have selected. After that, wait for the success.

Understanding Chabad’s Success with Millennials

Understanding Chabad’s Success with Millennials | Jewish Education Around the World | Scoop.it
This approach may sound simplistic, but its simplicity is what makes it so inspiring – and successful. It isn’t data-driven or fiscally beholden. We aren’t looking for watersheds, benchmarks, or tipping points. It’s not about the “next generation” or the “Jewish future.” It is about reaching one Jew and igniting one soul, even for one moment.

And, along the way, watersheds and benchmarks are quietly surpassed. The imperatives of the Jewish nation are met, and Jewish continuity is ensured.
