We are the gods now!

"Long ago man formed an idea conception of omnipotence & omniscience which he embodied in his gods. Whatever seemed unattainable to his desires - or forbidden to him - he attributed to theses gods. Now he has himself approached very near to realizing his ideal, he has nearly become a god himself."

Jason Silva Says We Should All Try To Be Nonconformists, Live A Creative Life

Jason Silva Says We Should All Try To Be Nonconformists, Live A Creative Life | Jason Silva (Philosopher) | Scoop.it

Jason Silva urges viewers to resist simply accepting the reality they're presented with, and instead actively shape their lives into something more creative and life-affirming.

Jan Miranda's insight:

Jason Silva is the host of National Geographic Channel's "Brain Games," in his thought-provoking YouTube series, "Shots of Awe."

He urges viewers to resist simply accepting the reality they're presented with, and instead actively shape their lives into something more creative and life-affirming. A trying task, sure, but one he argues elevates life beyond simply existing as part of the masses.

Over the course of the video's two brief minutes, Silva lays out a philosophical framework to accomplish this, ultimately concluding, along with German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."

World In A Sentence : A Rapturous Experience Captured - YouTube - Shots Of Awe

"The syntactical nature of reality, the real secret of magic, is that the world is made of words. And if you know the words that the world is made of, you can make of it whatever you wish." - Terence McKenna

Jan Miranda's insight:

When an experience is rapturous, the moment is owed a poem in real time. The moment is asking to be captured (a snapshot).
The photographer tries to take a still frame of the Universe.
The engineers that build the Hubble space telescope that allow us to mainline the whole of time through the optic nerve; inducing an ontological awakening.
All of these technologies and tools we have created to capture reality as it is lived. That is the human condition, that is what we do.
