Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor

2-12 sentence paragraph

Karen Ruiz's insight:

My Topic is over the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor the attack happened on December 7,1941 it was between Japan and the U.S, the Japanese surprised the base in Hawaii and they bombed the base and some of the ships that were there. Japan didn’t warn the Americans that were in the base but they didn’t know that they were going to be attacked by Japan. Once Japan started bombing that’s when they realized that this threat was real. Japan caused a severe damage to the Naval and Military base there was a lot of deaths during this attack, the Japanese used Torpedoes, Submarines, and Air Forces to bomb Pearl Harbor during this attack a total of 2,335 U.S servicemen were killed and 1,143 were wounded and Japan only lost 65 men however we lost 68 civilians and 35 were wounded.

This attack lasted 110 minutes its started form 7:55 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. they called President Roosevelt to let him know what was going on in the base, they also were having people talk about the attack on the radio. They had a big meeting in the White House it was one of the biggest meeting since 1861, in the meeting they were talking about making plans for what happened in the attack of Pearl Harbor they talked about a lot of things and what were some things they could of done better. Japan was mad because the U.S didn’t approve the aggression in china and they declared an embargo on Japan. The U.S didn’t have an idea of what was going to happen on this day, they had ships taking products to their allies to help them with the war they were giving them weapons that they could use to help them win the war that’s why not a lot of ships were destroyed during this attack.

The way my topic changed society and the economy was by having so many damage and by killing a lot of men during this attack their was a lot of money that had to be put in to fix Pearl Harbor and other countries that we were allied during World War 2, President Roosevelt had to make drastic decisions and decide weather of not to declare war on Japan, because President Roosevelt didn’t want to even join World War 2. They wrote a lot of documents to know what was really going on December 7,1941. I think the attack on Pearl Harbor made things worst because the U.S decided to declare war on Japan and this made things go even worst because it meant that they had to make weapons, planes, submarines and bombs to help the U.S destroy Japan.

I know Japan started everything and that the U.S just wanted to get revenge but I think we could of have done something else to get revenge because declaring war on Japan made things just get worst and we lost more people in this attack to and even if we were ready to fight Japan on December 7th I think it would have been the same because Japan had different weapons. But also when the U.S declared war on Japan the United States were thinking about dropping an Atomic Bomb on Japan without them noticing.
