Sue Osborne's insight:

I am increasingly of the opinion that, whilst it is great to keep up with people I know and love on Facebook, I am losing something too. My very best friend is NOT on Facebook and I have to make the effort to touch base with her via email, SMS and actual phone calls. It IS much more personal that way.  I tend not to look at Facebook as often through the day as I used to (used to always be open in the background). Some days I don't even look at it at all. However, Twitter IS open all the time - keeping me up to date with conferences, media announcements and the latest articles and developments in my profession. I LOVE it. I can actually see a day coming where I leave Faccebook behind and concentrate communicating on a more personal level with friends and use Twitter even more as an information professional.

Oh this is so good! I left a comment:

"Dear Facebook, We Need to Talk"

Was the title of a blog post I wrote back in 2011 when I was having a bumpy relationship with FB and finally decided to dump him....err I mean it! (you can Google it or maybe the link will work below - let's try!)

But Twitter....ahh Twitter has become my number one Social Media outlet & source for rich professional development....but my friends? They have to email, call, or text me cause yeah...I don't DO Facebook. And I'm better off for it!

Great post Griffyn! Love that you rock the Y like I do! ;-)

Cheers!

‘Why I quit Apple’ — what it’s really like to work for Apple

‘Why I quit Apple’ — what it’s really like to work for Apple | iThink, therefore iPad | Scoop.it
I’VE just escaped the Apple institution. I’ve sent in my resignation, and fled down its bright white corridors curated by crass colourful pictures of iPhones past. I handed in my security pass and in return I was able to re-claim my creativity, individuality and free thinking from the secure Apple cloak room. For the first time in two years I feel light, creative and inspired.

Get Your Students Coding With These 20 iPad Apps

Get Your Students Coding With These 20 iPad Apps | iThink, therefore iPad | Scoop.it
Do you have iPads in your classroom? Are you getting some this year?

I have been doing a lot of traveling these past couple months. I attended
the ISTE conference and gave a couple poster sessions. I also
delivered professional development in my own district and a week long class
in Arizona. One topic that is getting left behind in all this technology is
coding. The Hour of Code has given a great boost to the awareness of
programming, but I just read that an article recently that stated 9

Nick Urban's curator insight, July 17, 3:50 PM

I really love this article that discusses the use of iPads and coding in the classroom to not only gain knowledge in how to code, but also in learning the content of the course. Coding offers a great way for students to become dynamic and fluid in their learning and also being exposed to one of the largest growth industries in the world. As everything becomes more digital there becomes a greater need for coders and designers. Thus, this allows students to see the power of coding and creates a great interest field in a new way of life.
