Italy has always been a divided country, so hearing people demanding independence from Italy isn't new at all. Italy's new prime minister didn't get voted in, and many people have lost faith in his ability to change things. Suicide rates have gone up to 160 deaths/year, indicting how much desperation there is. European politicians are rallying against independence, but the public believes that their money will be used to "pay their next ice cream cone." This loss of money in the economy could be used in much more productive ways

The Ndrangheta is now a large mafia of Italy, and has built alliances with Colombian and Mexican groups as well in the cocaine trade. The group's size is unknown, as there are "visibles" and "invisibles." The groups main leaders and "supremes" are among the "invisibles." The group's drug activity makes me wonder how much money they are making and how much it would help Italy's GDP and their economic condition now.
