Cycling through Italy's Chianti region

Cycling through Italy's Chianti region | Italia Mia | Scoop.it
I trudge onto the terrace looking like a sweaty beetroot in shorts. “Some bread and olive oil to help you recover,” smiles Gianni Mucciarelli. With his bronzed skin and dapper red loafers, the manager of the Dievole Winery has the look of a man who doesn’t fall off bicycles. “A pleasant ride?” he asks, as I slump in a chair and dab at my grazes.

Cyclopride Day 2014 - Coming Soon to Milan and Palermo -

Cyclopride Day 2014 - Coming Soon to Milan and Palermo - | Italia Mia | Scoop.it

Cyclopride, an Italian association working to promote the joys of cycling in Italy, has organized two CycloPride Day cycle rides on May 11, 2014. One takes place in Milan, which is where I live, and the other is in Palermo in sunny Sicily.

The Milan CycloPride Day involves a 16 kilometre (just under 10 miles) cycle ride around the centre of the city starting from Piazza Castello. Giro 2014 route

Giro 2014 route | Italia Mia | Scoop.it

The 2014 theme of the presentation was “a more humane Giro” meaning fewer long transfers. The stages are shorter, gone are the 240km Alpine raids of the final week with more vertical gain than Everest, instead a typical mountain stage is “just” 170km. Human yes, but probably more energetic too with faster finishes.

Nine uphill finishes of which five are “summit” finishes in the high mountains
Eight “sprint” stages
One team time trial, one classic time trial, one mountain time trial
