The Often Forgotten Tribe of Marketers Who Amplify Your Brand - Jeffbullas's Blog | Occupy Your Voice! Mulit-Media News and Net Neutrality Too | Scoop.it

As businesses and brands we often pay for attention. But there is a different way. There is a tribe of marketers who can amplify your brand for free.

In 2011, Coca Cola decided to move from agency driven “creative excellence” in marketing to “content excellence“. They decided to become the publisher. Content excellence starts with creating your own content. it could be videos, images or blog posts.

Their goal was to create content so contagious it couldn’t be controlled and create buzz and virality online.

They flipped the old model."

Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

This is why media and media policy matters to all of us. Don't just use media. Get to understand  as much as possible about it. This info-graph also supports the idea that the internet as it has been designed as an open, neutral communication system is an amazingly successful communication system.

The internet and the Web should be protected as it is and not be allowed to degrade into just a commercial and political tool and source of control by a wealthy few. This is why many push teaching code as a new language and everyone should be taught to create content in these post-modern times.

Bye Bye Net Neutrality?
Light Reading
Say goodbye to network neutrality… at least for now. That's my take after watching and evaluating the arguments over the issue at the D.C. Circuit Court recently.
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

Drop Verizon and don't give them a chance to be the troll charging you twice or even more to pass on an Internet bridge we all paid to build to reach the links we choose to use.  If they want extra pay to provide good, open, affordable access to the internet communication system or cell service  then forget them...

How about getting double charged for your use of the internet so Verizon can line their pockets and give their richest costumers the first class seats on the fast line lanes while they put everyone else cramped up in their economy slow internet lane?

If they don't think they think they Verizon is not a common carrier of communications these days then what is everyone paying Verizon so much for?

Second class treatment is what Verizon wants to be allowed to offer their costumers and if they do they better drop their price by 75% for the privilege of letting them treat everyone else like they are only worth a lesser, lousy service...as a punishment for costumer not willing to be fleeced by Verizon or those who are not able to afford Verizon billing to access the web, then billing people for the links they want to get to or to reach the people they what to reach out to. Why not just allow Verizon a business permit to just service rich people who can afford the Verizon cherry picked style of Internet communication service?

If the Internet wasn't highly important all these companies and governments would not be drolling and bitting at the bit to get control over it and sap the wealth out of everyone if they succeed in gaining control. . The fight for the open Web and citizen control over what we do with our great new communication system is a non-stop battle between citizenss and those who want to own the system and control it.

If enough of us push this back we will hold our internet again and get ready to go up against the next attempt to take it over. Corproations and governments will be back for another and another try to take it over for their own. The citizens will again stand up against this power grab and together we can continue to push back the corporate efforts to seize the power of the Web for their own private, selfish interest. So please get in the loop and stay informed about power plays for the Web and  be ready to join the citizen's side in this cyber war.

Self-Sustaining “Farmscrapers” are Cities in Stackable Steel Rocks

Self-Sustaining “Farmscrapers” are Cities in Stackable Steel Rocks | Occupy Your Voice! Mulit-Media News and Net Neutrality Too | Scoop.it

Smart cities, if they are ever to emerge, will likely center around redesign of urban buildings and infrastructure that will make them “self sustaining” and reduce carbon emissions and other “negative externalities.”

The Chinese city of Shenzen, a candidate for green transformation if there ever was one, and Asian Cairns will be a group of six “space age” looking buildings that will produce food for residents. The project will cover 79 acres (320,000 sq. m) with green vegetation incorporated into the structures of the building. Dubbed “farmscrapers” instead of “skyscrapers” the buildings will include housing, office space, shops and recreational areas.

Photovoltaic and photo thermal solar cells as well as wind turbines will be incorporated into the structure of the building to provide more energy than is consumed by residents. Callebaut designed the building so that no fossil fuels will be necessary, completely eliminating CO2 emissions.

Gloomy times for cable TV, and you may suffer for it | TechHive

Gloomy times for cable TV, and you may suffer for it | TechHive | Occupy Your Voice! Mulit-Media News and Net Neutrality Too | Scoop.it

Cable TV companies have been losing subscribers for quite some time now, but new analyst numbers released today suggest that their losses are accelerating.

That’s great news if you’re Netflix or AT&T U-verse, but it could mean more price hikes are on the way for current cable subscribers.

Cable TV took unprecidented subscriber losses in the July-August-September quarter—687,000 accounts closed—according to analyst firm Moffett Nathanson. That’s way more than the cable guys lost in the same quarter last year—466,000.

Many of the cable defectors went over to competing video services from AT&T (U-verse) and Verizon (FiOS). The telco TV players gained 400,000 new subscribers in the third quarter. Satellite companies made out OK too, picking up 174,000 new subscribers in the quarter. The other 113,000 missing subscribers cut the cord entirely.

The pay TV industry as a whole (cable, satellite, and telephone company TV) lost .02% of subscribers. It was its fourth consecutive quarter of no growth, causing analyst Craig Moffett to write that the industry “had its worst 12-month stretch ever.”

Learning to Love the WTO: How Trade Policy Can Save Open Internet - and Bridge the Digital Divide

Learning to Love the WTO: How Trade Policy Can Save Open Internet - and Bridge the Digital Divide | Occupy Your Voice! Mulit-Media News and Net Neutrality Too | Scoop.it
From the dawn of the mainstream commercial Internet in the late 1990s until quite recently, the world trade and Internet communities have been almost entirely disconnected from one another.
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

There are some worth reading content here. The idea that the open internet will hold even if we do not establish net neutrality as the LAW of the internet with punishment in place for those that break the neutrality LAW is idealistic and quaint.

This is  most likely a deliberate attempt to take the public eye off the real prize of public and user control of the internet with a trust your trust worthy business leaders, power mongers, media moguls, ISPs and content providers to look after our interest as individuals and citizens  more than their own bottom line myth. What do you think?

... good economic news, then there's a lot to like about the new numbers from comScore, the research firm that tracks the digital economy. According to research out today, consumers shopping online spent $1.2 billion buying ...
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

This is great news if you own an online business that is doing well. Not so great if you have a brick and mortar shop and dream of greeting people face to face and seeing them walk into a well presented shop willing to pay sales tax. Also, this might not be so great for the towns and states that collected no sales tax from this 1.2 billion.

This may be good news for those that deliver packages and drive trucks or fly planes. Those wanting jobs in manufacturing or shops within their own town may find this type of shopping means less of those types of local jobs. Cities that don't have successful online  stores that many in community own may also find that once money leaves the community it has left and like Elvis at the end of his concerts has cleared the area and will not be back on the local stage. Money that stays local is usually recycled all around the community, but once it leaves the community through online sales or big national or multi-national chains that are not locally owned the money is sent out of the community unless those that received it into that other town or country decide to spend it somehow in the community they received it from.

Shopping local helps keep money, power and options local. There are great reasons to have some national chains in a community, but forgetting to buy and keep money and loyality with local people and communities means that few can dream of making even a modest living working for themselves or owners they actually know and that know them personally. .

20 Stunning Social Media Statistics Plus Infographic - Jeffbullas's Blog | Occupy Your Voice! Mulit-Media News and Net Neutrality Too | Scoop.it
Monica S Mcfeeters's insight:

Media Matters and that is why all citizens should understand and participate in shaping media policy. Too few in charge of too much of anything that impacts so many is a recipe for corruption, manipulation and will create a huge imbalance in power and wealth.

Media Matters and with so many millions building this up why are we not charging for our part of the build up or at least protecting or our own interest in what we have all created together and paying more careful attention to policy?

The ones that have original ideas should be richly rewarded by those that benefit from those ideas but so should the people, citizens or customers that got behind them and turned their ideas into house hold names because we all embraced their creations.

The open, neutral internet that created this and our privacy should not be under constant threat of loss by the very companies and governments all these efforts, much less our time, often our tax dollars and through our support we all  helped to create.
