iPad Mini May Be Called iPad Air, but It Looks More and More Like a Sure Thing — iPad Insight | iPadsAndEducation | Scoop.it

"After a brief lull on the iPad Mini rumors front, things have kicked back in to a very high gear this week. In the last few days several of the leading ‘in the know’ sort of writers and sites have weighed in with new thoughts on and even lovely mockups of the much-anticipated new smaller iPad."

School Technology Policies Are More Important Than Ever In The iPad-Enabled Classroom

School Technology Policies Are More Important Than Ever In The iPad-Enabled Classroom | iPadsAndEducation | Scoop.it

I find topic such as this interesting as I used to view the world through the same rose coloured glasses as the writer of this article. These days however, I think that we should not be tying down devices with the exception of blocking sites which have absolutley no educational relevance.

I view the world as open these days, instead of being closed behind a garden wall in which anyone can jump it anyway, and access whatever they want to anyway using there own technology.

18+ Videos Suggested for Back to School Faculty Meetings and other educational audiences

18+ Videos Suggested for Back to School Faculty Meetings and other educational audiences | iPadsAndEducation | Scoop.it

By Jonathan Martin

"This post could be almost infinite: there is most certainly an extraordinary array of options for videos which expand educators’ understandings and inspire advances in 21st century learning. But curation is about choice and selection, and while I know I will leave out many, I thought I’d offer up a set of 15 of my favorites for your consideration for video screening at at back-to-school or beginning-of-the-year faculty meetings (and/or parent and board meetings).

"I’ve starred those that might also serve as useful and engaging videos to share with students at back to school or other assemblies.

"I am sure every reader will have their own opinions about the videos I’ve left off this list, and please: add them below using the comment box, or, post yourself your own set and share the link from this post to your own."

A wonderful list. You are sure to find something valuable here. -JL

"During its education event in January, Apple unveiled its plans to revolutionize the K-12 classroom with the iPad, electronic textbooks, a revamped version of iTunes U that supports content for K-12 schools as well as higher education, and tools for educators to create their own digital content using iBooks Author and iTunes U."

Boundless - The Free Textbook Replacement via @juandoming

Boundless just launched the public beta version of its brand new site. What is Boundless? It’s a way to easily turn all of the open source information that exists in the world into a simple easy-to-use digital textbook. And it’s free.

This is one of the most exciting announcements that came across my inbox over the past few weeks. Boundless is shaping up to truly disrupt the digital textbook industry and the newly launched tools are robust enough to do just that. But enough hyperbole and hot air, here’s what you should know:
