Israel-Palestine: A Tapestry
My hopes of this feed are that, as it grows, so will my knowledge of the Israel-Palestine conflict; that, as I share, so will others; that, as I'm continually compelled to remain objective, so will the public.

Dissenters on Panel Blast Study Claiming Palestinian Textbooks Don't Vilify Jews | Israel-Palestine: A Tapestry | Scoop.it
Controversy quickly engulfed a new study on incitement in Palestinian textbooks. Israel blasted the report and some advisory panel members were blindsided by its release.
Brandon Desiderio's insight:

A U.S.-funded study released this morning on Israeli and Palestinian textbooks "cleared the Palestinians of demonizing Jews in school textbooks and contends that both Israeli and Palestinian teachers use classroom materials that distort the history of the Middle East conflict."

Israel's Education Ministry "denounced the findings in a press release" with their official statement calling them "biased, unprofessional and significantly lacking in objectivity." It also added, "The attempt to create a parallel between the Israeli education system and the Palestinian education system is completely unfounded and lacks any basis in reality."

Brandon Desiderio's insight:

Former NYC mayor, Ed Koch, "accused Obama of "turning his back on Israel" by naming [Chuck] Hagel to the Pentagon, which he called "a terrible appointment." Koch was among the most forceful spokesmen of "one of the most potent advocacy groups in Washington": AIPAC, the Israel lobby. Hagel, Obama's nominee for Secretary of Defense, called AIPAC the "Jewish lobby" a few years back. He's one of very few Representatives that are pro-Palestine.

The Roots of the Ongoing Arab-Israeli Conflict

The Roots of the Ongoing Arab-Israeli Conflict | Israel-Palestine: A Tapestry | Scoop.it

The Arab-Israeli conflict is the most complicated conflict the world ever experienced. On the anniversary of the 1973 War between the Arab and the Israelis, many people in the Arab world are beginning to ask many questions about the past, present and the future with regard to the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Brandon Desiderio's insight:

"The questions now are: What was the real cost of these wars to the Arab world and its people. And the harder question that no Arab national wants to ask is: What was the real cost for not recognizing Israel in 1948 and why didn’t the Arab states spend their assets on education, health care and the infrastructures instead of wars? But, the hardest question that no Arab national wants to hear is whether Israel is the real enemy of the Arab world and the Arab people."
