Passwords have gotten so complicated that even people with ferociously sharp memories can struggle to recall the eccentric combinations of letters, numbers, and symbols. There are passwords for personal e-mail, work e-mail, bank accounts, Twitter, and Facebook, and woe to anybody who uses the same one for those two malware magnets. On top of that, it's recommended that you regularly change your passwords so they don't get compromised. Passwords are a pain, but LastPass slices through the Gordian knot of password management with a deft and effective cross-platform browser add-on/app/online password manager and form filler that makes web browsing easier and more secure. Although I prefer it on Chrome and iOS, LastPass is also available for Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, your descktop, and on Android. The bottom line: Effective, secure, and easy to use, LastPass offers a broad base of password-management features for free that can be expanded when upgrading to the premium version. It's an essential add-on for modern Web browsing.

This post discusses my personal best 30 iPad apps for college students, grad students, professors and everybody else in university and academia.
The average day of a public school teacher doesn’t end when the bell rings and the students are gone. Class preparation, grading, bus duty, club advising, coaching and other non-instructional activities are often left out of the discussion on teacher compensation...
Academic preparation isn’t the only factor in college readiness. Also helping to determine whether students get to graduation are social behaviors, like whether they show up for class, engage with professors and make eye contact. A new assessment from the Education Testing Service (ETS) seeks to measure those non-academic variables...
The safety of our schoolchildren is of paramount importance to all people in the education community. The tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, has prompted school districts to reassess security measures in place in their facilities. The New Jersey School Boards Association has created the School Security Resources web page with the goal of assisting school officials in the process.
Contacts can be exchanged between Outlook and Google Gmail to save time and avoid manually re-entering your contacts.
New Jersey's overhaul of teacher tenure is now law, changing how educators are measured and evaluated -- as well as how they are rewarded and disciplined. More than two dozen districts are already piloting evaluation systems; the rest of the state must decide how it will fulfill the law in the next two months. The NJ Spotlight Roundtable Series brings together educators and key players to discuss progress so far, including the chief architect of the law, state Sen. Teresa Ruiz, and the director of education evaluation for the Christie administration, Timothy Matheney. Saturday, November 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
In recognition of Bullying Prevention Month this October, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) has released a free, two-part training toolkit designed to reduce incidents of bullying, for use by classroom educators.
