Is Anonymity producing unethical behavior?
Anonymity has been a hot issue lately and the debate whether to regulate it has been very controversial. In these few articles I learned about studies and surveys about internet anonymity. In many sources I found that anonymity does change our behavior and at times can be lethal. There are also many issues with regulating Anonymity because of the invasions of our individual rights. I first believed that internet anonymity was just a playground for cyber bullying, but now I've realized the issue is far more complicated, and getting rid of internet anonymity may not be the best solution.

This article talks about the effect of anonymity on the internet. It disscusses its crude behavior in online forms. Many online forms censor their posts, they do this to take back the play ground from the anonymous bullies and give more attention to those who are willing to provide them with their real information.

In Ben Ronney's article he writes about our right to be anonymous online. They discussed how the anonymous comments in a particular study ruined the creditability of the University science studies. Ireland is now investigating the role of social media in debate after the suicide of an Irish politician caused by abuse from the internet. Some people interviewed believe it all depends on what is useful for social networking from secure social networking. They concluded by having differing opinions on the safety factor of pseudonyms.

In Wendy McElroy she draws a line between normal every day rudeness and criminals that are actually trying to harm others. She believes that the benefits of online Anonymity outweigh the disadvantages of it. McElroy believes if the government takes away our right of internet anonymity we are slowing surrendering our freedoms, and allowing to government to control each individual.

Reexamination of the association Between anonymity and self-interested Unethical BehavioR in adults

Tatsuya Nogami from the Nagoya University in Japan conducted a study on undergraduate students. He observed their behavior depending on the anonymity and their reward status. He found  that the majority of participants that were not associated with a reward have behaved in a non-ethical manor,as opposed to the one that were rewarded. He concludes by finding that anonymity influence human behavior in a negative way.
