Using iPads in the classroom isvery relevant to students. Technology is something they use everyday, and finding ways to incorporate them wth math will be engaging.

María Dolores Díaz Noguera's curator insight, November 15, 2013 5:03 AM

Great one.

The idea of taking notes in a different form rather than linear and adding drawings will appeal to the visual teacher or earner.

The ultimate goal is to create critical thinkers in the high school classroom. Non-fiction texts allows teachers to help students understand citations, research, opinion vs. fact, and it can be integrated with fiction to support the contrasting text.  As a former journalist and high school English teacher, it is essential for students to identify a credible source, proper research and understand an argument before they leave high school.

Een erg praktische toevoeging in Chrome aan Google Docs. Scheelt bergen tijd aan correctie. Wel even je leerlingen leren dat ze "open met..." en dan Voice comment moeten klikken.

Writing and Close Reading: Annotating for Argumentation

Writing and Close Reading: Annotating for Argumentation | Ipads in the LA Classroom | Scoop.it

Annotation: What is it?

At it simplest form, mark-ups on a text. A reading strategy as old as texts themselves. Yet at its most useful annotation is more purposeful coding rather than mark-ups dotting a page (Fisher and Frey, 2011).

Mel Riddile's curator insight, September 5, 2013 2:02 PM

Close Reading and Writing are inextricably linked. Close reading or 'reading with a pencil' is a precursor to meaningful discussion and argumentative writing all of which should occur in every class every day.

Two Wonderful Visual Lists of Educational iPad Apps for Teachers and Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

"In their attempts to establish a 1:1 program for the year 6 class, St Oliver Plunket has recently held a series of workshops in order to develop their students skills before they were officially given management of their very own devices.

The workshops were particularly centered around teaching students about some tips and tricks for managing their iPad, email etiquette, successful searching and copyright and creative commons. I personally was thrilled by the efforts these people from St Oliver are putting into making their 1:1 program a success and I hope other schools would do the same."

TeachThought: How To Use An iPad To Add Voice Comments To Grading

TeachThought: How To Use An iPad To Add Voice Comments To Grading | Ipads in the LA Classroom | Scoop.it

"There are many pdf annotation apps available that allow this kind of text marking, but another killer feature that is somehow less celebrated: voice annotation.

The video below walks users through adding voice comments to pdf documents, starting right at the 2:00 mark. (The first two minutes cover the aforementioned text annotation.) Being able to add voice comments not only allows teachers to clarify important ideas, but could also be used by peers during the revision portion of the writing process.

As the paperless classroom becomes easier to realize, new tools will become more and more necessary to fill in the workflow gaps. Tools like these are a step in that direction."
