iLearn Technology » Blog Archive » Evernote as an ePortfolio: Postach.io, Voice2Note, StudyBlue | iPads in the Classroom | Scoop.it

"… this post is about Evernote and some neat new add-on apps I’ve been playing with.  At Anastasis, we use Evernote as our digital portfolio.  For the most part, this works brilliantly!  Students can record text, images, and audio directly into Evernote.  Notes can be shared and emailed to teachers and parents alike.  Evernote makes it easy to capture learning that isn’t natively digital in their eportfolio.  Snap a picture or create a short audio recording directly in Evernote and the learning is captured, searchable and sharable.  All of the incredible projects that our students create during inquiry can be reflected in Evernote portfolios.   Another HUGE benefit to the Evernote/iPad combo: it goes with them everywhere.  Recording learning on a field trip? Check. Recording learning at home? Check. Recording learning on the fly? Check. Teachers often send students a PDF instructions for an assignment or a picture to the student’s Evernote account. Parents can login to their child’s Evernote account from any computer or iDevice to see what they are working on.  Not only is learning captured on the device, but it is stored in the cloud.  This means that if a student iPad gets lost, damaged, etc. their work isn’t gone."

45+ Teacher Recommended Educational Apps : Teacher Reboot Camp

45+ Teacher Recommended Educational Apps : Teacher Reboot Camp | iPads in the Classroom | Scoop.it

"Educators are beginning to see the potential of using mobile devices and apps for ongoing professional development as well as to improve literacy and cognitive development for learners. Apps are equipped with several features that motivate learners to create stories, presentations, and projects that are hands-on and use their creativity as well as their critical thinking skills. Once an app is downloaded, many features can be accessed without an Internet connection. Educators can also use various apps at conferences to connect with other educators or capture a presentation. Below are the various apps nominated by teachers for an Edublog Award so they must be worth checking out. Each has a link and a description. Make sure to check out the Edublog Awards for blogs, wikis, and web tools that teachers worldwide have recommended."

"he moment Thinglink fans like me have been waiting for… The unveiling of the brand-new Thinglink app!

Yep! One of my favorite edtech tools has finally gone mobile! That’s right! The Thinglink nation now has the ability to create cool interactive images on the go! What could be better?

Here’s how it works: Choose a picture from your camera roll or capture a new image of your travels, family, pets, etc. then add text, video and Twitter tags to make your favorite moments come alive. But you’re not done yet!  Share your interactive photo greeting across social media networks and/or email."

11 Must Have iPad Apps for Teachers and Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

11 Must Have iPad Apps for Teachers and Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | iPads in the Classroom | Scoop.it

"Today while I was lounging in Victoria Park, I took my iPad and started thumbing around through the apps I have. I was really surprised to find out that I have many apps installed but only some are being used on a regular basis. So it dawned on me to compile a list of some "must have" apps  that teachers should have access to. All of these apps are great for organizational tasks such as :  task management, bookmarking, note-taking...and media storage.

We need to be mindful and aware of waht helps children and adults learn. It is not enough to hook up the technology and expect everyone to learn in one way.

Beth Case's comment, April 17, 2013 12:56 PM
Technology is a TOOL, not a goal. Just because students learned before the invention of TV doesn't mean education can't be improved. While it can be annoying to jump on every new gimmick, it's just as annoying to be resistant to trying anything new.

Should you allow students free Internet time when they are done with their work? Should students be able to sign up for tablet time or are you the unofficial Queen of the iPad?"
