So Many 3D Printing Options - How to Choose the Right One | IPads in Primary School | Scoop.it
If you’ve looked into 3D printing, you know there are a lot of options – some good and some not so much. Since the technology is just beginning to enter classrooms and is new for most schools, choosing a good partner and printer is important when diving head first into this new world. There are plenty of schools which have experienced problems from purchasing machines that are no longer serviced or weren’t made well, and avoiding these missteps can save everybody a lot of time, money and headache.

MindMup

MindMup | IPads in Primary School | Scoop.it

Another way MindMup is now allowing you to work with larger groups easier is a quick notification mechanism when someone changes a node. You'll get a small speech bubble pop up for several seconds and disappear automatically, so it's easy to keep an eye on the entire team or classroom. At the moment, this only works for node text changes, but in the future we'll add other notification types.

The Padagogy Wheel - It’s Not About The Apps, It’s About The Pedagogy -

The Padagogy Wheel - It’s Not About The Apps, It’s About The Pedagogy - | IPads in Primary School | Scoop.it
The Padagogy Wheel is designed to help educators think – systematically, coherently, and with a view to long term, big-picture outcomes – about how they use mobile apps in their teaching. The Padagogy Wheel is all about mindsets; it’s a way of thinking about digital-age education that meshes together concerns about mobile app features, learning transformation, motivation, cognitive development and long-term learning objectives.

The Padagogy Wheel, though, is not rocket science. It is an everyday device that can be readily used by everyday teachers; it can be applied to everything from curriculum planning and development, to writing learning objectives and designing centered activities. The idea is for the users to respond to the challenges that the Wheel presents for their teaching practices, and to ask themselves the tough questions about their choices and methods.

Microsoft Released A New Website to Help Teachers Use Minecraft in Their Classes ~ EdTech & MLearning | IPads in Primary School | Scoop.it
‘Minecraft in education is a way to teach, learn and inspire. It’s students visiting ancient civilizations to create and play out their own stories. It’s exploring mathematical concepts like perimeter, area, and volume by breaking and placing Minecraft blocks. It’s practising collaboration, problem solving, digital citizenship, and leadership skills through creative thinking and innovative design. Minecraft in education is teachers and students inspiring each other to change the way we learn.’

Any way of making a link between what students really do and the maths we want them to learn is a bonus.  Too often a 'real-life' maths problem has little or no relevance to the students' lives.

Educational Leadership:Teaching with Mobile Tech: How to Transform Teaching with Tablets

Educational Leadership:Teaching with Mobile Tech: How to Transform Teaching with Tablets | IPads in Primary School | Scoop.it

"If students were doing awesome things with an iPad, what would that look like? Here's another way of putting it: How does an iPad align with a vision of meaningful and purposeful learning?

Bereft of examples and inspiration, many educators struggle to conceive of iPad integration beyond mere substitution for whatever came before. Educators need guidance on how to leverage iPads as hubs of innovation that nurture the learning skills, competencies, and habits of mind that help students develop skills for today's world.

With that in mind, here's a look at two teachers and their iPad-infused classrooms."

Questions to ask:

How will learning be different?

How will students improve as learners? As scholars? As citizens?

What will they be able to do 3 or 4 years after the ipad adoption that they can’t do now?

If ipads are the answer, what was the question?

What does awesome look like?

How does an ipad align with a vision of  meaningful and purposeful learning?
