Apptivity Teaching Vocabulary and Language.pdf - Google Drive

Paula Jamieson's insight:

This iPad resource is a 'solid' useful one. We sometimes forget that adding to the 'foundation skills' is such a vital step, especially in Junior classrooms. The creative and WOW 'stuff' is powerful but if those building blocks aren't in place what do they have to build with?

Is it the iPad, the apps or the user?

Is it the iPad, the apps or the user? | Switch On - "iPads in everyday education" | Scoop.it

And now we have the tablet. The iPad has begun a new “education revolution” and now the obligatory opposition tech companies have joined the battle. The question has to be asked – are we again starting from the wrong end of the battle lines? Is the iPad (inserted alternative tablet if so desired) the real catalyst or is there so much more to this than money spending school systems can see beyond the new and shiny?

It’s why I ask the question: Is it the iPad, the App or the User?

Via John Evans
Paula Jamieson's insight:

Challenge your teaching practice.......who or what is really making the difference? Does the tool support the learning? Any device without quality teaching is just that 'a device' - not a tool to enhance and support the learning.

Rachelle Wooten's comment, February 3, 2013 5:53 PM
It's true much of the true revolution will be realized when the user knows how to wield the tool. I'm also concerned that many teachers feel overwhelmed with testing, deadlines, meetings, etc. and have not made the paradigm shift from teaching is a "would like to do" to a "need to do." It's challenging! It's also my motivation for researching and examining the effectiveness of the tech tools we use in classrooms.

Interessant article de reflexió/opinió entorn al boom dels ipads...

Per mi la resposta és clara, primer? L'usuari, es a dir l'alumne!!

Jan Eade's curator insight, February 5, 2013 6:36 AM

A very interesting article which asks the really tough questions. No, it's not just about the tool, but more about how & why the teacher and/or student use the tool. The comments are worth reading too.

Nice clear step by steep instructions of the purpose and use of 'Airplay'. I personally also have the Reflection App installed and have used it extensively.
