I see huge value in the Thinglink tool (both App and Web), especially if you are a Google school and create or store digital archives online (as all you need is a URL to link too).
Our Year 4 to 6 teachers have created a Thinglink (placed on their clasblog) using their class photo and linked each one of the students blogs to it - simple, effective and visually capturing (Whanau love being able to view their blogs easily).
I know I have probably scooped Lisa's resources loads of times but this is literally one of the best places you can spend time if you are iPad Passionate. I just love my discoveries and my 'woohoo' moments found within her rich curation (many of which are her own resources!). A wee warning though.......once you 'go in' you may NEVER come out!

This really is interesting reading.......'Moving the 'un-moveable' teacher. It's interesting to reflect on how the ICT landscape has changed, previously I found myself delivering PD predominately on 'Web 2.0' tools and often finding 'new ways' to digitally create content. I am currently predominantly delivering iPad and 'Google Tools' PD - mixed in (thankfully) with a large dose of Blogging and 'Making Thinking Visible' - providing students with a voice and strengthening whanau home school partnerships. I love my job!
Any resource created by this company is guaranteed to be a goodie! I just spent literally days designing an ibook around the digital citizenship app that these guys designed - we use the app and ibook at Te Akau ki Papamoa as our Term 1 Digital Citizenship learning tool. So i am looking forward to exploring this iBook in more depth.

This looks like a good initiative (about time some would say!). I just hope what appears is the category is not 'sales' or advert driven like some of the other categories (just cause it appears doesn't means it's quality! I strongly believe it's NOT about the App - it's about "PURPOSE, OUTCOME AND AUDIENCE".
Having supersonic apps that can be threaded together in a seamless workflow is always a bonus too of course!
Had to read this as we are now moving to the fourth generation! I've found that it is communication that is the key to hooking in the 'older' generation - e.g. Skype. If 'they' can see how it enhances their lives (and just how easy it is!) they're hooked.

What ever you want to call it......'Workflow' or 'App Smashing'.......it's the key to tapping into learners creativity and deeper thinking. The learning drives the lesson not the tool - the tool's just the vehicle to get you there. Truly powerful stuff.
Apple have been 'dropping hints' for months about dropping the iPad2 and a wee while back it 'disappeared' from the Apple Store line up. A local supplier had been accessing store for a while but now all dried up. To be fair buying cheap iPad 2's would NOT be a good move anyway in my opinion........the iOS updates will no longer be possible on the iPad2 and given that the Mini has so many more features (especially the Airdrop function!) - for future proofing the mini is definitely the way to go.
I've got news for you. You don't need a billion apps in a one iPad classroom. You need just four and this is how (and why) you should try them out.

An interesting read, I'm not convinced with the You Tube component though - I'd rather have students upload their video to a wiki or blog and share via that - depends on the age of learners too. The class Evernote account is one option but there's also Edmondo or individual blogs to hold content (we host on our own server so super quick to upload content). It all depends on your Purpose and Audience I guess.

It doesn't seem that long ago that "Word Clouds" hit our computer screens in the shape of sites such as Worlde and Tagul etc but this app looks like it does the same for iPad. Again it comes down to "Purpose" - what are you using it for and how are you linking your Word Cloud with other apps etc? Otherwise this app is merely 'Substitution' on the SAMR model isn't it - a fancy list of words.
I am frequently asked about 'quality' apps, usually after I challenge schools to become discerning (especially as they purchase 16gb devices, jam pack them with a gazillion 'letter formation' apps and then wonder why they can't save their photo's or video! - a generalisation of course, many don't).
Are you asking the challenging questions "How does this app lift student achievement?" "Is this app redefining the way you learn, communicate or collaborate?"
I'm an advocate for teachers and students co-constructing a rubric to critique apps. I'm also an advocate for teachers providing 'discovery time' and the opportunity for students to feedback their thoughts to the class eg "What did you find challenging about this app?", "What would you change if you could?" etc
