"My friend and fellow ed tech blogger Adam Bellow has relaunched his start-up company eduClipper. Some of you may remember that Adam launched a private beta of the service last year. Well after a big investment from some venture capital firms and ten months of testing and revising features eduClipper is better than ever. In fact, I think it's what teachers wish Pinterest could be. Last week Adam and I spent an hour talking about the new eduClipper in it's current state and where it is going in the future. Let's take a look at what will make eduClipper a very popular service amongst educators."

My iPad Challenge - Mr. Thornton's eLearning Site

My iPad Challenge - Mr. Thornton's eLearning Site | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it

"Can you make it a week using only the iPad and not a dekstop computer? That is the question that I would like to attempt to answer this week as I take a challenge to work from an iPad for the whole week without using a desktop computer. I understand that this sounds like a first world problem or challenge but for someone who relies on a MacBook to do a lot different work throughout the day, this will definitely be a big challenge. My new found interest in this comes following a recent iPad conference with EdTech Teacher in Atlanta. After seeing some of the amazing things that teachers and students are doing with iPads, I thought I can do more with my iPad. I felt that the best way to do this would be to challenge myself to use my iPad more and using it exlusively will definitely be a challenge. So now I begin the iPad challenge. Here are a few ground rules I have established for the challenge:"

"So you’ve had your iPad for a while now, and you are starting to find it difficult to remember where all of your apps are. Maybe you have a few go-to apps that you have memorized the location of, but where did that birthday card making app go that you downloaded three months ago?

If you have more apps than you know what to do with, it is time to weed out the old ones and organize what you want to keep into folders for quick access."

iPad Tip ~ How to Instantly Organize Apps in Alphabetical Order

iPad Tip ~ How to Instantly Organize Apps in Alphabetical Order | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it

"If you love to keep your apps organized, we have a great tip for you today. By going to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Home Screen Layout, your iPad will not only reorganize all stock apps to their default positions, but also organize all non-stock apps in alphabetical order."

Paula Jamieson's curator insight, May 7, 2013 7:05 PM

Maybe this is something that you've always wanted to do? Have your iPad apps organized in alphabetical order. This would be a nightmare for me (a visual learner) as more often than not I don't necessarily know the name of the app but I know what the icon looks like (or the folder that I have put it into). I choose to organize my apps into folders eg ABC's, Word Work, Nurturing Thinking etc. Keep in mind though I use my device predominantly for 'modelling' and to inform others so I have hundreds (did I say hundreds.....my 64gb device is almost full AGAIN).

If though, you have individual devices assigned to your classroom that are not jam packed with too many Apps, this may be just the thing for you!

John Pearce's curator insight, May 8, 2013 9:39 PM

I must admit that I prefer to organise my apps under folders according to type, (though there are times that this system also 'lets me down'). This could be a useful strategy for user who have quite a few screens of apps.

Rebecca Penina Simon's comment, May 10, 2013 3:33 PM
I definitely understand - my 32 GB iPad is completely full. I have to keep deleting and reinstalling the apps that I do need to use.

"Adult learning is a vast area of educational research and probably one of the most complicated. Adults learn differently and have different strategies in learning. Adults Learning Theory and Principles explain in details these strategies and sheds more light on how adults cultivate knowledge.

Talking about adult learning brings us to the concept of Andragogy. According to the article Malcolm Knowles an American practitioner and theorist of adult education, defined andragogy as “the art and science of helping adults learn”. Knowles identified the six principles of adult learning as:"
