How to Create a Journal using iPhoto | Mac|Life

How to Create a Journal using iPhoto | Mac|Life | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"Creating a journal in iPhoto is like crafting a scrapbook page that you can post live on the web for anyone to see, for free. Not only is it fun to design a journal, but it’s a super-fast way to show off vacation pics, or to show distant relatives how much the kids have grown. In addition to creating a journal on an iPad, you can also make one on an iPhone in the same way. The feature is currently missing from the Mac version of iPhoto, however."

Index Card: Gather, Organize, Create. | iPad.AppStorm | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"Index Card by DenVog attempts to bring all of the benefits of physical cards to the iPad screen. The app lets users populate a digital bulletin board with index cards, reorganize, and write until they’re satisfied with their creation. Instead of transcribing ideas, Index Card lets the user export them into a text editor of their choice."

iPads in Primary Education: Part 1: Raising Standards in Boys' Writing using the iPad for Gaming

iPads in Primary Education: Part 1: Raising Standards in Boys' Writing using the iPad for Gaming | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"In recent literacy lessons I have been exploring the potential of the iPad to motivate children to write for different purposes. One ongoing target in our school is the emphasis on boys’ writing so the theme here is going to be how one app has been used to encourage boys to write with confidence, in an appropriate style and with a strong level of knowledge. Having collaborated with David on the controllable vehicle project http://mrandrewsonline.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/case-study-part-1-how-can-ipad-changed.html ; it struck me how confident and knowledgable the children were in terms of speaking about their work, and this clarity and depth had a direct and hugely positive impact on the children’s writing. I wanted to see if using a popular gaming app would be able to make an impact on the writing of the children I teach."

Apps in Education: Year 5 App Review - Apps that help them learn. | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"Miss Martins is a eLearning Reference Teacher at a fantastic systemic Catholic School in Sydney's east. She has been working with Year 5 classes to document which apps they use to concrete their own learning. This is a fantastic way to start a conversation with your kids about how we learn and how individuals have different learning requirements. Wallwisher was the perfect way to document and then share this reflective process. I love the fact that this could then be shared with other students, other classes, other teachers and even with parents. So what were some of the apps these students identified as ones that contributed to their learning. Here we go....."

"Our wonderful Art teacher, Shana Gutterman, has been a wonderful supporter to collaboratively work with classroom teachers: She is becoming (or maybe already is) fluent in “upgrading” traditionally taught Art lessons to include much needed skill practice (communicate, collaborate, connect, create) with transliteracy methods. Shana is also growing as a reflective professional and blogger. It is a pleasure to read and follow along as she is expanding her curation, reflection and social networking arena to amplify her connections and learning."

The Innovative Educator: A Friendly Guide to Deploying iPads at Your School

The Innovative Educator: A Friendly Guide to Deploying iPads at Your School | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"There is also a lot to like about iOS. It’s a lean, mean operating system. It’s use of sandboxing keeps it relatively clutter free. iOS doesn’t do a lot, but it’s pretty good at what it does do.

That said, deploying iPads at any kind of scale is just short of maddening. While the process of tapping around to install one app on one iPad isn’t too bad, installing a dozen apps on hundreds iPads isn’t a particularly appealing way to spend a month. If you are going to deploy iPads at scale, you need a strategy. You need a battle plan. In addition, you will also need to stay hydrated. I don’t think I’ve discovered the silver bullet, but I’ll share some of my experiences with you in order to, hopefully, shorten the learning curve."
