Create Your Own Narrated iBooks With Book Creator

Create Your Own Narrated iBooks With Book Creator | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"A couple of weeks ago I wrote about using Little Story Maker http://ipadapps4school.com/2012/12/21/use-little-story-maker-to-create-custom-books-on-your-ipad/ to create your own short books on your iPad. After publishing that post a bunch of people asked me to review Book Creator https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/book-creator-for-ipad/id442378070?mt=8 too. Book Creator is not a free app ($4.99 as an individual and less with volume purchasing) but I think that it is well worth the money that I spent on it."

Why Aren’t We Talking More About iTunes U?

Why Aren’t We Talking More About iTunes U? | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"With so many schools adopting the use of iPads I find it strange that we aren’t hearing more about the incredible opportunities available in iTunes U.  Well I suppose it isn’t that strange given that schools in the early stages of transitioning to an iPad platform are extremely busy and learning one more thing can seem overwhelming.  Trust me, I understand that, but I believe if you were to learn one more thing it should be about the power of iTunes U. The possibilities of this incredible tool are endless. I’d like to provide you with just a few examples of the many uses of iTunes U in the hopes that more schools will join this incredible network of learning resources."

Screencasting Apps for the iPad

Screencasting Apps for the iPad | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"As other teachers who have used iPads for years already know, there are some very cool educational apps out there, and recently I have been exploring various screencasting apps to record lessons for my classroom.  I have also had tons of fun playing with all of them over the winter break, screencasting from my couch about goofy things (mostly involving my two glorified throw-rugs of dogs) with my husband shaking his head at me from his armchair."

Free Technology for Teachers: Build a Media Gallery With Your Students in 2013

Free Technology for Teachers: Build a Media Gallery With Your Students in 2013 | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"One of the challenges of having students create videos, slideshows, podcasts, and other multimedia productions in your classroom is making sure that they are respectful of copyright. One way to avoid any worry about copyright is by having students use media that they have created from scratch. Of course, building up a gallery of media that is large enough for all of your students to use takes time. To start building up a gallery of images, sounds, and video clips that your students can use in their projects commit to a 365 project for 2013. This year have your students make daily contributions to a group media gallery. If a daily schedule is too frequent for you try a weekly schedule with your students. Here are some tools that you can use to collect and create your classroom media gallery."

Learning In Burlington: A Great Video To Start 2013 (Created by a 16-year old)

Learning In Burlington: A Great Video To Start 2013 (Created by a 16-year old) | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"...I love sharing work created by students with others.  I am amazed on a daily basis by the thoughtfulness and insights that students have to offer and I feel so fortunate to be an educator in a day and age where it is so easy to share these examples with others in our school community and beyond.

With our students off on vacation for the past week, there really hasn't been anything new to share from our students, but I did come across an uplifting video that was created by a 16-year old in Washington D.C.  Thanks to Daniel Pink for sharing the impressive work of his daughter Sophia on his blog http://www.danpink.com/2013/01/the-perfect-4-minute-film-to-start-your-new-year ; today!   It is a perfect video to watch as we begin a new calendar year and we consider the types of people and environments that can inspire us. "

John Evans's insight:

This is totally not iPad related but such a great way to start the New Year I had to include it. Happy New Year to one and all!

Starting Your Own iPad iBand – Part 1

Starting Your Own iPad iBand – Part 1 | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"I met with three fifth grade students this week to see if they could even play a few chords on the iPad. So I downloaded some lyrics that showed the chords for Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day, I know nothing about music so I hoped this going in the right direction.

I started up my iPad and launched GarageBand and selected the smart guitar, I set it to the correct key (F minor) and showed the kids how to strum the guitar on the iPad."
