Analyzing iPad Myths in Education -IPAD 4 SCHOOLS

Analyzing iPad Myths in Education -IPAD 4 SCHOOLS | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"Many obstacles that iPad cynics attempt to put in place when discussing a roll-out are based on untruths, poorly research and/or out-of-date information. I was delighted when my Canadian Twitter friend and fellow iPad blogger, Steve Lai decided to join forces, as we’ve done before, to combat this dis-information that floats around the education profession worldwide."

How To Start Integrating Coding Into Project Based Learning | Edudemic

How To Start Integrating Coding Into Project Based Learning | Edudemic | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"True Project Based Learning (PBL) challenges students to acquire deeper knowledge of a concept by establishing connections outside their classroom. According to the research on PBL, the main tenets are to create real world connections, develop critical thinking skills, foster structured collaboration, motivate student driven work, and enable a multifaceted approach.

Similarly, coding applies all of these core tenets as programs require logical thinking, team work, a variety of tools, and – most importantly – perseverance on the part of the student. Consider the potential of applying the challenges of coding to the proven successful tenets of PBL."

"To document and share these 103 apps I chose to include on my STEM iPad cart this year, I created screenshots of each iPad folder and uploaded them to a Flickr album. I also created a linked List.ly list of the apps, which I’ve embedded below. The creative apps I’ve included, which support creating and sharing multimedia artifacts for digital portfolios, are also included within my “Mapping Media” digital literacy framework. For additional app lists, check out the “App Recommendations for Mobile Devices” list complied by EdTechTeacher. Hat tip to Beth Holland (@brholland) for sharing that link earlier today."

How to Uninstall Apps from iPhone & iPad in Seconds - OSXDaily | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"Installing apps to iOS is easily done through the App Store, but uninstalling apps from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is probably even easier. Yes, many users will know how to do this, but it always surprises me how many people don’t know how to remove an app from their iOS device. Fortunately, Apple has made app removal remarkably simple on the iOS platform, and it’s no exaggeration to say that you can completely uninstall an app in just a few seconds flat."

The third day I was able to bring the iPad cart into the class for the first time of the year. It’s a big deal. It’s a big deal to the kids and to me as their teacher. I thought because I did this last year it would not be quite as “magical” for lack of a better word, but boy was I wrong. Their excitement was contagious. I was able to introduce the students to one of my favorite apps named Popplet. It is so simple to use but very impactful. You can use it for any content and any subject. Today we used Popplet to review nouns. Here is how the day went:"
