"One of the reasons why I did not dwell a lot on the topic of RSS feeds on " 23 Excellent Tools for Teacher's Professional Development " is because I was planning a separate post for it alone. So what the heck is RSS feed all about and what importance does it have for me as a teacher ?"

"Ginger Gregory is the Gifted Resource Teacher at Lakeview Elementary School in Yukon, Oklahoma, and currently has 117 videos on her classroom YouTube channel. Ginger has used the six iPads in her classroom and her free, district-provided YouTube channel (since the Yukon school district participates in the Google Apps for Education program) to help her students develop oral communication skills, oral fluency, as well as digital literacy skills this semester. In the following six minute video, Mrs. Gregory and eight of her students explain what they have learned as a result of their assignments this year using iPad videos and YouTube."
The investigation shows that almost all objectives, teaching tasks and concepts of thecurriculum can be promoted with the aid of tablet computers. Nevertheless, a lot ofprerequisites in terms of hardware and software are required for a successful integration of tablets. In addition, there are some drawbacks, such as the lack of teacher training and slower text production.

"Samantha John didn’t learn programming until she was nearly done with college. Her Hopscotch iPad app teaches the next generation of kids how to write code as soon as they can read."
"In the 20th Century, and probably back to the Renaissance, the “Three R’s”, reading, writing and arithmetic were arguably a good basis for education. Take it easy all of you Constructivists out there…I can feel you getting riled up with the mere mention of the Three R’s! Back to basics movements blossomed several times in the last century and seem to be full steam ahead today with the emphasis on standardized testing. But now we are in a new age and the Three R’s simply won’t do. We need to add what I call the “Three C’s”. Create, Curate and Collaborate."

"I have owned an iPad for quite some time now, and found it to be an excellent tool for both amateur photographers like myself and professionals alike. Sure, an iPad will never be able to replace a computer for serious photo editing (well, for me, anyway,) but I feel that it has definitely earned a place in the discerning photographers kit bag."

"I have had this conversation far more than once this year, but here I am 9 1/2 days before the end of the semester, having it again. Should schools allow students to personalize their iPads with their own apps?"

My students use their iPads as creators every day, whether they are recording their thoughts, using virtual tools or publishing authentic assessments. Content can be both created and consumed using an iPad, and my students take on both roles. "

"I am not an artist. But when I created this blog, I knew I wanted an avatar that would come to be synonymous with "Library Girl." I figured, if I was going to don a virtual super hero persona, I would, at minimum, need a cartoon character version of my self who, if not able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, would at least sport a cape. So... I started hitting up my artsy friends. Alas, none of them were interested in creating a comic ME for which I could pay them exactly nothing. Go figure. Which left me with nothing to do but rely upon my own skills. Let me repeat: I am not an artist. I am, however, a librarian."

"With this new application in Google Docs ( Drive ), teachers can now record their audio comments and share them with their students. I see this as a better way to give feedback on students' work and I do believe there are things we can express with our voice that no written code could ever capture like the tone and intonation..etc."
