iPads in the classroom – A development of a taxonomy for the use of iPads in schools

The investigation shows that almost all objectives, teaching tasks and concepts of thecurriculum can be promoted with the aid of tablet computers. Nevertheless, a lot ofprerequisites in terms of hardware and software are required for a successful integration of tablets. In addition, there are some drawbacks, such as the lack of teacher training and slower text production.

A study on ipads and what can be done with them. Teacher training must however be taken into account.

Deborah Sarmir's comment, Today, 9:45 AM
I agree, teacher training is a big component that must be in place in order for this initiative to be successful.

Move Over Three R's, Here Come the Three C's - Create, Curate and Collaborate - Teach Amazing! | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"In the 20th Century, and probably back to the Renaissance, the “Three R’s”, reading, writing and arithmetic were arguably a good basis for education. Take it easy all of you Constructivists out there…I can feel you getting riled up with the mere mention of the Three R’s! Back to basics movements blossomed several times in the last century and seem to be full steam ahead today with the emphasis on standardized testing.

But now we are in a new age and the Three R’s simply won’t do. We need to add what I call the “Three C’s”. Create, Curate and Collaborate."

"I have owned an iPad for quite some time now, and found it to be an excellent tool for both amateur photographers like myself and professionals alike. Sure, an iPad will never be able to replace a computer for serious photo editing (well, for me, anyway,) but I feel that it has definitely earned a place in the discerning photographers kit bag."

The Adventures of Library Girl: Libraries as Cultivators of Creativity: There's an App for That!

The Adventures of Library Girl: Libraries as Cultivators of Creativity: There's an App for That! | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"I am not an artist.  But when I created this blog, I knew I wanted an avatar that would come to be synonymous with "Library Girl."  I figured, if I was going to don a virtual super hero persona, I would, at minimum, need a cartoon character version of my self who, if not able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, would at least sport a cape.

So... I started hitting up my artsy friends.  Alas, none of them were interested in creating a comic ME for which I could pay them exactly nothing.  Go figure.  Which left me with nothing to do but rely upon my own skills.  Let me repeat:  I am not an artist.

I am, however, a librarian."
