5 Simple Tools For Teachers To Create And Publish Apps Of Their Own - TeachThought

5 Simple Tools For Teachers To Create And Publish Apps Of Their Own - TeachThought | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"What with the almost universal proliferation of smartphones among students, even at the elementary school level, it would seem like a no-brainer for an educator to utilize mobile apps as effective and readily-accepted learning tools. And if an educator can’t find an app that does exactly what he or she wants, the logical next step is to develop and publish their own. Besides, what else do they have to do with all the free time with which all educators are blessed?"

Free Technology for Teachers: Elements4D - Exploring Chemistry with Augmented Reality

Free Technology for Teachers: Elements4D - Exploring Chemistry with Augmented Reality | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"This is a guest post from Samantha Morra of EdTechTeacher.org, an advertiser on FreeTech4Teachers.com.

Augmented Reality (AR) blurs the line between the physical and digital world. Using cues or triggers, apps and websites can “augment” the physical experience with digital content such as audio, video and simulations. There are many benefits to using AR in education such as giving students opportunities to interact with items in ways that spark inquiry, experimentation, and creativity. There are a quite a few apps and sites working on AR and its application in education.

Elements4D, an AR app from Daqri, allows students explore chemical elements in a fun way while learning about real-life chemistry. To get started, download Elements4D and print the cubes. "

Still Think You Can't Do Real Work On The iPad? A Lot Has Changed Since 2010 | Cult of Mac

Still Think You Can't Do Real Work On The iPad? A Lot Has Changed Since 2010 | Cult of Mac | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"Back when I worked exclusively on my iPad, writing posts for Cult of Mac and everything related to that, I had a hell of a time getting some things done. It seemed like every tiny step needed to be researched before I could get anything done.

In the end, I quit and went back to a split iPad/iMac setup, but not for the reasons you might think.

Now, when I take my iPad out to work, like when we visit a trade show or I go traveling for a few days, I don’t even have to think about it. So much has changed in the last couple of years that the iPad really is as capable as a Mac for many jobs – and you don’t have to be a nerd to do it."

6 iPad Strategies for beginners - teacherswithapps

6 iPad Strategies for beginners - teacherswithapps | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"I consider myself very lucky. My university years coincided with the introduction of mainframe computers. The dawn of PCs occurred when I was at my prime, and now my grandchildren are learning to use the iPad. I know from my own experience as a math teacher that the integration of new computer technology into the classroom is a complex, challenging, and daring endeavor, and also a most rewarding undertaking. Two years ago, the iPad implementation in schools was referred to as the “wave of the future”. At this very moment, the iPad in the classroom is a reality. According to Sam Gliksman, author of  iPad in Education For Dummies, “the iPad is a natural fit for education in the 21st century”. There are a lot of publications dedicated to the subject of integrating iPads into classroom. As a mathematician, a retired teacher, software engineer and the developer of iPad/iPhone/Android applications, I have given a great deal of thought to proper use of iPads in teaching, and in the school as a whole. Below is a list of my most important iPad strategies, as seen from my own perspective and from what I have read.
