How to create digital I Spy puzzles @crosland_a

How to create digital I Spy puzzles @crosland_a | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it
Students in Grade 3 created their own I Spy pages. The items were gathered from yard sales, usually by the bag full, for a few dollars, and put through the dishwasher. The first class was spent exploring ‘I Spy’ books and arranging the items onto colourful card. I had 9 baskets of items so small groups or pairs each photographed the same designs but did their own clues.

During the second class period, students cropped their photos and used PicCollage App to add clues. Image quality is an issue with closeups with our iPad 2s. Other classes will try to find the items in the images and they were included in a school assembly video.  Continue reading to see more examples.

Using Technology in the Classroom: 15 Ways to Use an iPad in Middle & High Schools | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it

"I have had the privilege of being able to plough new ground in my classroom with a class set of iPads. I now have over a year of experience in using them with my students everyday. Over that time I have had alot of trial, error and troubleshooting. But now into my second year I have the benefit of being familiar with iPads strengths and weaknesses. All of the apps in my list of 15 Ways to Use an iPad are ones that I have used with students."

An Interesting Digital Taxonomy for Teachers Using iPads in Class - Educators Technology

An Interesting Digital Taxonomy for Teachers Using iPads in Class - Educators Technology | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it
After posting about Bloom's Digital Taxonomy Verbs we received a number of emails from teachers inquiring about iPad apps aligned with this taxonomy. The Bloom's Digital Taxonomy Cheat sheet we posted awhile ago does feature a collection of educational apps for both iOS and Android (and the web), however, we went ahead and created this visual incorporating some of what we think are the best apps and tools aligned with each of the thinking levels of Bloom's digital taxonomy. Of course our selection is subjective and based entirely on our previous reviews of these apps and we are very much aware that there are several other great web tools and apps that can fit in this pyramid but due to practical limitations we only featured representative samples in each category.

Innovate My School - Four ways to support Music lessons with iPads

Innovate My School - Four ways to support Music lessons with iPads | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it

"Google ‘iPads in education’ and you’ll find two types of result. The first cohort will be teachers exclaiming how innovative and engaging Apple’s tablet can be. The second will caution you of the lack of evidence suggesting that iPads make a measurable difference to pupils’ learning outcomes.

The latter is fair caution. Despite the national challenges of school funding, more and more schools appear to be purchasing iPads for use in the classroom. Many are even introducing a one-to-one ration where every child has their "Music teachers are accustomed to using a wide gamut of tools - instruments."own device.

As with any tool, the outcomes are only as good as the planning that you put in. You can teach fantastic lessons with or without an iPad. Unfortunately, you can also teach awful lessons with or without an iPad. This is just as true in Music as it is in other subjects.

Perhaps, however, Music teachers have an advantage. While other subject teachers are more accustomed to books, videos and websites as resources, Music teachers are accustomed to using a much wider gamut of tools - instruments. If we can encourage Music teachers to view the iPad as another instrument and a vehicle by which children can make genuinely music progress, then we are well on the way to making the most of this 21st century resource.

So, how can music teachers deliver real learning with the Apple iPad?"

Great perspective! Raises a valid point in relation to the use of ICT's; "...the outcomes are only as good as the planning that you put in."

Brilliant Integration of the iPad | November Learning

Brilliant Integration of the iPad | November Learning | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it
This fall Mulgrave School in Vancouver, Canada, handed iPads to all the Grade 3 classes. Three weeks into the academic program and lead teachers on the project, Melanie Cannon and Shauna Ullman throw down one of the best uses of the iPad I’ve seen yet.
