Why it’s important to smash a few apps (or what’s on your palette?) — @joycevalenza NeverEndingSearch

Why it’s important to smash a few apps (or what’s on your palette?) — @joycevalenza NeverEndingSearch | iPads in Education | Scoop.it
"Lately when I think about how I am going to accomplish a digital task, I find that I automatically consider the task as a creative process, a process that makes me dig into my digital toolkit or examine my digital palette, usually more than once, to discover new synergies. I’ve come to discover what I’ve been doing is commonly called app smashing. Roughly defined, app smashing refers to the act of using multiple digital tools or apps to achieve a creative goal."

Love my Google Apps, so much classroom potential...blended learning
Hazel Kuveya's comment, April 7, 2014 10:35 PM
it also gives students to work at a pace that is comfortable for them, most of all I reckon it's the information that they are able to share in a seemingly short space of time and they can actually work on their notes outside school times, that's a tick for blended learning

iPads in Teaching - What Are They For? - Ideas Out There | iPads in Education | Scoop.it
"This picture was drawn in response to a post called 'Drawing On A Napkin: Is This How iPads Function In A Traditional Classroom?' by the esteemed Terry Heick. Mine was not drawn on a napkin, but on Notability. And, to answer that snarky Johannesburg based iPad trainer who cannot believe I can do what I do using the iPad, yes I did create it myself! This is what I think iPads are 'for' in education. Let me know what you think."

When a school leader refuses to remove internal policy and filtering barriers that get in the way of students and teachers actually using purchased technologies, that’s not poor technology leadership, that’s just poor leadership.

I love SAMR and I find it a very good pedagogical framework that teachers can draw on to not only integrate technology into their instruction but also assess the efficiency of this technology. And since iPad is a leitmotif in today's learning, its alignment with SAMR model will definitely assist teachers in making the most of the educational potential of this versatile device. To this end , I am sharing with you this wonderful illustrative chart I stumbled upon on Apps in Education.”

26 iPad Apps For A Paperless Classroom - Te@chThought

26 iPad Apps For A Paperless Classroom - Te@chThought | iPads in Education | Scoop.it
"The paperless classroom is a compelling concept for what it symbolizes as much as anything else. While it sounds sleek and futuristic and easy to organize and environmentally friendly, the reality is that paperless classrooms aren’t that simple. The “environmentally-friendly” part, for example, is wildly subjective: the costs of manufacturing–and eventually recycling and disposing of–tablets versus the loss of “renewable” trees and the subsequent waste that is environmentally-friendly."
