Love my Google Apps, so much classroom potential...blended learning
Hazel Kuveya's comment, April 7, 2014 10:35 PM
it also gives students to work at a pace that is comfortable for them, most of all I reckon it's the information that they are able to share in a seemingly short space of time and they can actually work on their notes outside school times, that's a tick for blended learning

Top Ten Tips for the iPad App 'Stick Around' | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

Stick Around is one of the best new apps we've seen lately It offers users the ability to create, share and play their own labelling puzzles. The design of the app is very user friendly but broad enough to include some brilliant little touches too.

iPads in Teaching - What Are They For? - Ideas Out There | iPads in Education | Scoop.it
"This picture was drawn in response to a post called 'Drawing On A Napkin: Is This How iPads Function In A Traditional Classroom?' by the esteemed Terry Heick. Mine was not drawn on a napkin, but on Notability. And, to answer that snarky Johannesburg based iPad trainer who cannot believe I can do what I do using the iPad, yes I did create it myself! This is what I think iPads are 'for' in education. Let me know what you think."

When a school leader refuses to remove internal policy and filtering barriers that get in the way of students and teachers actually using purchased technologies, that’s not poor technology leadership, that’s just poor leadership.

I think uninformed and worse, unwilling to be informed leadership is frequently the barrier to effective technology integration in the library and classroom.

“ This is the second article I posted here on SAMR iPad apps in less than two weeks. Why? I love SAMR and I find it a very good pedagogical framework that teachers can draw on to not only integrate technology into their instruction but also assess the efficiency of this technology. And since iPad is a leitmotif in today's learning, its alignment with SAMR model will definitely assist teachers in making the most of the educational potential of this versatile device. To this end , I am sharing with you this wonderful illustrative chart I stumbled upon on Apps in Education.”

How can administrators, instructional coaches, and teacher leaders help build a culture of innovation in our schools? All of these ways are useful, but must start at #4, taking things off of teachers' plates to provide the room for self-selected PD, etc. A sound list that any administrator an use as a blueprint for transformation or a rubric for self assessment concerning empowering teachers.

The Franklin Academy (located in Wake Forest, NC) began a laptop initiative four years ago. Te@chThought has just published their four year study and review which focuses on Student Use and Behavior. You can access a pdf and download the report from the site.

You can find more information about the initiative as well as information from previous years and a detailed visual that looks at the four years using the following categories on the Franklin Academy High School iPad Initiative Wiki

* Learning Workflow

* Device Management

* Student Benefits

* Teacher Benefits

If your school is considering an iPad initiative (or a 1-to-1 initiative) you may find valuable information as you read through the the report and the Wiki.

26 iPad Apps For A Paperless Classroom - Te@chThought

26 iPad Apps For A Paperless Classroom - Te@chThought | iPads in Education | Scoop.it
"The paperless classroom is a compelling concept for what it symbolizes as much as anything else. While it sounds sleek and futuristic and easy to organize and environmentally friendly, the reality is that paperless classrooms aren’t that simple. The “environmentally-friendly” part, for example, is wildly subjective: the costs of manufacturing–and eventually recycling and disposing of–tablets versus the loss of “renewable” trees and the subsequent waste that is environmentally-friendly."

11 Tips for Managing iPads in the Classroom

11 Tips for Managing iPads in the Classroom | iPads in Education | Scoop.it
"I am starting to see the light… and somewhat emerging from the fog of iPad enrollment and technical logistics. After a full weekend of ACL (yes, the TechChef does find time to enjoy in the Austin music scene), I spent half a day with Randolph ISD sharing some timely tips for managing iPads in the classroom. As I am never one to hoard resources and I imagine that there our other teachers and districts that might benefit from some tried and true management techniques, I thought I would crank out a blog to share these with the greater edusphere."
