This is yet another powerful piece from the folks at TeachThought. The list of apps will keep the most stalwart educator busy for quite some time. I love how the author starts out saying "none of these...is perfect" but the sheer variety is impressive and could help build a strong 21st century learning platform.

Call me geeky but I am particularly excited about the Pick Me buzzer and the game show sounds board. Isn't it more fun to hear "wah, wah, wah" instead of "no, that's wrong?"  The real reason for sharing this is the interactivity that is the core of the post. Using iPads is highly recommended in the school environment where I am doing my prac. Although I haven't met my students yet, I am starting to consider ideas on what they may find interesting and what they could possibly utilise. On the home front, teaching the "outside" world to my "inside" kid can be beneficial. This way he learns where his food comes from and doesn't have to get his hands dirty!

iPad App Smashing for Sports Coaching | iPad Insight | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"App Smashing is the process of combining content in one or more apps together for a creative and effective outcome. App smashing can make the iPad a powerful aid in sports coaching and other mediums.

As any cricket geek knows, the season is about to start. I’ve been playing, and more specifically, bowling, for about 25 years (the less said about my batting the better) and I have a fairly well grooved bowling action. As any sportsperson will know, there is always room for improvement and this pre-season, I turned to my iPad to help me tweek my bowling technique."

Communicating in the iPad Era | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"No doubt, the emergence of the iPad and other tablets represent the most significant change to the speech pathology field in recent years.

Sean Sweeney, MS, MSed, SLP-CCC, has long advocated for the acceptance of mobile technology among his colleagues.

"There seems to be a need among speech language professionals to learn to integrate the technology into their work but there hasn't always been a wide awareness of the tools available," he said."

Lost Your Apple TV Remote? You Don't Need to Buy Another! | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"Apple TV has proven to be a very useful gadget, both at home and at school. Airplay mirroring is its best feature. I am able to show whatever is on my iPad/iPhone screen and beam it up to a big-screen TV or a projector. I believe, at its relatively low price point of $100, any Apple fan should own one. In terms of the classroom, it can be a powerful tool for supporting your teaching. Teachers can benefit from being able to roam around the classroom and beam up multiple devices."
