Paul Fuller's insight:

This meets my criteria for a near-perfect educational app. Can be used from K-7 across multiple learning areas. Not free but, if you can only afford to buy one app for your school's iPads, this should probably be it.

using iPad apps to create - teach mama

using iPad apps to create - teach mama | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"I love what the iPad offers young learners.

I’m especially excited about opportunities it gives to create their own content, whether that be in the form of text, images, video and other media, or combinations of these."

Paul Fuller's insight:

Too often the iPad is written off as purely a device for a consuming content created by someone else. Here are some easy ways that even the youngest children can create their own content using an iPad (I particularly love the iPad Spy idea!).

The creation possiblilities are what made me fall in love with the iPad and the sheer enormity of amazing apps for creating content are what keep me from switching to a cheaper tablet for students.

Teacher's Guide to Using Free iPad Apps to Support Higher Order Thinking Skills ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | iPads in Education | Scoop.it
"Hot Apps for HOTS is an excellent guide packed full of apps and activities to support higher order thinking skills (HOTS). I learned about this eBook from a post by Tony Vincent in Learning in Hand almost a month ago and since then I downloaded the guide and read it from cover to cover and was really thrilled by the depth and practicality of the learning materials provided by the authors: Lisa Johnson and Yolanda."

A Great Presentation On The Use of iPad for Digital Storytelling ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

A Great Presentation On The Use of iPad for Digital Storytelling ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | iPads in Education | Scoop.it
"The presentation below is created by Karen Bosh who is a K - 8 Technology Instructor. Karen provided some key ideas and app suggestions for teachers on how to use iPad for digital storytelling. Some of the apps she suggested are not free. She has also corroborated her ideas with a set of students project examples involving the use of iPad for digital storytelling. The presentation is a little bit long ( contains 129 slides) but is really worth your time. Have a look and share with your colleagues."

Apps in Education: Creating a Quiz or taking a Poll on the iPad

Apps in Education: Creating a Quiz or taking a Poll on the iPad | iPads in Education | Scoop.it

"I love the fact that the iPad can be used to assess student understanding instantly. I think these Quiz and Poll apps actually give the students the power to direct lessons as opposed to teachers making assumptions about where their kids are at in their learning. Below is a list of apps that allow teachers to create and hold a quiz or poll in their class. A great way to start a lesson to ensure you pitch the lesson at the right level or even to use as a exit poll. Find one that suits you and your students."
