Kids Teaching Kids with Book Creator

Kids Teaching Kids with Book Creator | Ipads in early years and KS1 education | Scoop.it

"Knowledge exists to be imparted.-Ralph Waldo Emerson"

"For a short time, I considered that it was highly possible I had lost my mind.  I was going to teach my kids how to use Book Creator on a Friday. Not only that, they were going to teach another kindergarten class how to use it later in the day.  Simmer down…my sanity is still intact.  I worried needlessly.  My iPad proficient five year olds created a 4 page book on Penguins in less than an hour.  They illustrated their pictures in Doodle Buddy, saved them to the camera roll, imported them into Book Creator, typed their text and exported the book to their iBooks app in the morning.  I demonstrated how to do this on the SmartBoard prior to their starting on their own."

The Making of a Story in Kindergarten and Amplification Thoughts | Langwitches Blog | Ipads in early years and KS1 education | Scoop.it

"Kindergarten time is storytelling time: Listening to stories, telling stories, acting stories out, learning how to read your own stories and creating your own stories!

Our Kindergarten teacher upgraded a traditionally created paper bound class booklet of the students illustrations and text of a Thanksgiving story to creating a TechnoTale. What is a techno-tale? A techno-tale is a digitally told story"

"When I first began this process of introducing apps I used an HDMI cable to connect the iPad to my projector. The reason I moved to the less “techy” document camera is because it allows my class to actually see what their friends are touching on the iPad. This really helps them learn how to play them. Handwriting Practice with Apps | My Hullabaloo | Ipads in early years and KS1 education | Scoop.it

"The iPad has many uses in my class but the area I feel it helps the most is with kids that are struggling. Typically when kids struggle in an area it is also something they do not like to do. Makes sense right? They don’t enjoy it or don’t have the confidence to try so they avoid doing it. That lack of practice compounds the issue. Handwriting is certainly one of those areas. So we all try to find creative and fun ways to get hose kids to practice their skills… enter the iPad. "
