Teaching With QR Codes

Teaching With QR Codes | IPads I. The Elementary School Library | Scoop.it

"So, what are QR Codes, you ask?  Well, you know what barcodes are,  like when you buy something at the store and the clerk scans a code to enter the item and amount into the till?  The QR (Quick Response) Code is kind of like that, except that it offers much more information.  Quite often the QR Code will give you a link to a website, or a text message, image, etc.  To read the QR Code, you need to install a QR Code Reader onto your device.  There are many available for free.  I like using i-nigma, seen below. Simply open the app, point it at a QR Code and your device will do the rest.  Try it with the code above.  It should take you back to this blog."

My 24 Most-Used Education Apps (What Are Yours?) - Edudemic

My 24 Most-Used Education Apps (What Are Yours?) - Edudemic | IPads I. The Elementary School Library | Scoop.it

Posted by Jeff Dunn

The Apple iPad is one of the biggest things we all talk about when it comes to education technology. It’s nothing new. But what is new is that amount of sharing teachers are doing around the world about what iPad apps work best for them. Some create lists of their favorite apps, others share screenshots using the old ‘home button + lock button’ feature on the iPad.

I see a few iPad screenshots here and there in my Twitter feed on a regular basis. But when I saw the most recent shot from Rob Brocklebank, I just had to add it to Edudemic. He shared the 24 (all the apps you can fit on one screen without using folders) most-used and favorite iPad apps for teachers.

Introducing School-Wide Digital Citizenship Practices with iPads

Introducing School-Wide Digital Citizenship Practices with iPads | IPads I. The Elementary School Library | Scoop.it

"In addition to suggesting some starter apps, I recommended that we have conversations with kids around the appropriate use of these devices. While almost every child has used an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone, the exciting learning opportunities these mobile, Internet-connected, media creation devices create also open the door to new challenges."

iPads in Primary Education: The iPad unlocks the shackles of the Interactive White Board - By Mr Yeomans

iPads in Primary Education: The iPad unlocks the shackles of the Interactive White Board - By Mr Yeomans | IPads I. The Elementary School Library | Scoop.it

"As soon as I received my iPad I was eager to see how I could use it. As mentioned I only have one for my class and although I could easily borrow other teachers iPads in order to have a class set, the thought of orchestrating a lesson with each child on an iPad seemed a little daunting. So how was one iPad going to impact my teaching and the children’s learning?"

iPad App Evaluation for the Classroom

The app development market is exploding. More and more companies are creating “educational apps”. In some cases, they are simply digital versions of a book or a web based tool. Some seem to have “no educational value” to it at all, but are still sold under the label of “education”.

I hear Muggles make books disapparateLIKE a tired marriage, the relationship between libraries and publishers has long been reassuringly dull. E-books, however, are causing heartache.

Easily Create Classroom Posters on iPad Using Pic Collage App ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

Easily Create Classroom Posters on iPad Using Pic Collage App ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | IPads I. The Elementary School Library | Scoop.it

"Somebody has recently asked me for  a review of an app that can allow students to easily create posters on iPad. Pic Collage is the best option I recommend. With Pic collage you can take a bunch of picture and make one picture of it.

Using Pic Collage you can combine your photos in different ways . Scatter photos onto the background of your choosing or create a grid of your photos. Take the best parts of two photos to make one great one. Create a panorama or a mosaic out of multiple photos. If a picture speaks a thousand words, you can tell a whole story in a single frame with this app."

The Best iPad Note Apps [Best Of] | Cult of Mac

The Best iPad Note Apps [Best Of] | Cult of Mac | IPads I. The Elementary School Library | Scoop.it

"One of the first things about the iPad that caught people’s attention was the touch screen, and it goes without saying that some of the first apps to start taking advantage of that touch screen were handwriting/note taking apps. Apps that let you write, draw, sketch—-and sometimes type–notes on your iPad. Something that combined technology with the age-old practice of scribbling notes on paper."
