Allan's Blog | iPads for 21st Century Educators | Scoop.it

During my research I saw lots of great work done by others using Bloom’s Taxonomy including the Revised Taxonomy which has now become the Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy. However when I discovered the excellent pioneer work done by Kathy Schrock with “Bloomin’ Apps” I got the idea for the Padagogy Wheel. Dare I say it but it is the next version for mobile learning of the ongoing importance of Bloom’s Taxonomy. Bloom’s is still fundamental to good teaching and learning.

Cathleen Nardi's insight:

The Taxonomy Wheel was first discovered on the Website of  Paul Hopkins mmiweb.org.uk.  The wheel was produced by Sharon Artley and was the adaptation of Kathwohl and Anderson's (2001) adaption of Bloom (1956). The idea is to futher adapt it  for the pedagogical possibilities with mobile devices, in particular, the iPad.  Acknowledgement also to the creative work of Kathy Schrock on her website, Bloomin Apps.

Allan. The number of views that the Padagogy Wheel has gotten since Ana scooped and I rescooped it is a testimony of its value. I also scooped the Krathwohl and Anderson's previous diagram http://www.mmiweb.org.uk/web20/bloomweb20.html
Allan Carrington's comment, March 6, 2013 3:57 PM
Hi Cathleen thanks for the encouragement. I have had 90 people re scoop the Padagogy wheel most in the last 48 hours. However you are referring to views. I am new to Scoop can you help me understand how to find this statistic. What is the number of views for the wheel you are referring to for example I would like to know
Cathleen Nardi's comment, March 7, 2013 1:00 AM
I am not sure that you can break it down by article Allan. Scoopit only show the number of views by topic. What I was referring to was the number of comments as well as the number of view that it received. Also belated thanks for the video reference. I have yet to check it out. I am also now following your blog. As a final thought, I think the wheel is helping teachers realize how the iPad can truly transform learning in their classroom.

How iPads Can Create a More Engaging Classroom - teachingwithipad.org

How iPads Can Create a More Engaging Classroom - teachingwithipad.org | iPads for 21st Century Educators | Scoop.it

"Not long ago, a teacher had nothing more to rely on than knowledge, textbooks and a few markers. Technology has slowly changed that in the past few years, with the Internet, multimedia programs and computers increasing their presence in the classroom. But with the rise of tablet tech, the student-teacher experience is facing a subtle revolution: joining the trend makes students feel as if they’re part of an environment that’s desirable because people speak their native languages. As the iPad becomes a teaching tool, classrooms are transformed into contemporary settings."

36 Core Teacher Apps For Inquiry Learning With iPads - TeachThought

36 Core Teacher Apps For Inquiry Learning With iPads - TeachThought | iPads for 21st Century Educators | Scoop.it

"The interest in inquiry-based learning seems to ebb and flow based on–well, it’s not clear why it ever ebbs.

In short, it is a student-centered, Constructivist approach to learning that requires critical thinking, and benefits from technology, collaboration, resourcefulness, and other modern learning skills that never seem to fall out of favor themselves.

Regardless, St Oliver Plunkett Primary School has put together two very useful images that can help you populate your iPad–or classroom of iPads–with apps that support both inquiry-based learning (the second image below), and a more general approach to pedagogy based on Apple’s uber-popular tablet (the top image)."

7 Ways Teachers Can Create Videos without Installing any Software ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

7 Ways Teachers Can Create Videos without Installing any Software ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | iPads for 21st Century Educators | Scoop.it

"Today while I was reading a short article on the importance of videos in education, it dawned on me to compile a list of some of the best video creation tools to share with you here. I do have a separate section here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning where I have been featuring a plethora of video tools . But today's collection is somehow different not only because it contains the cream of the crop but also because these tools are all web based.

All of the web tools below do not require any software installation and you can work on them right from your browser. I am pretty sure you will find them very useful particularly  when working on video projects with your students. Please have a look and share with us if we have missed any important title. Enjoy!"
