Kathleen McClaskey's curator insight, October 31, 2013 11:06 AM

"Students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder have a wide variety of strengths and abilities that make their communication and learning skills complex, diverse and sometimes challenging. Many of their difficulties can be broken into the areas of Communication, Social Skills and Behaviour. We know that students with Autism are strong visual learners, which makes the iPad a perfect instructional tool to support communication, social skills development and positive behaviour."

The Spectronics team has done an outstanding job in compiling resources, apps and information on ways to support autistic learners in the areas of Communication, Social Skills and Behaviour.

Many thanks to Spectronics and the amazing work that they do to support all learners!

Tony Vincent's Learning in Hand - Blog - Classroom iPod touches & iPads: Dos and Don'ts | iPADS EN EDUCACIÓN | Scoop.it
Bringing iPods and iPads into the classroom is a great way to give students access to learning tools. However, there are so many things to keep in mind to make the devices work smoothly in the classroom. While this list of dos and don'ts mainly addresses iPod touch the same advice goes for iPod touch and iPhone.

100 iPad Apps Perfect For Middle School | The Committed Sardine

100 iPad Apps Perfect For Middle School | The Committed Sardine | iPADS EN EDUCACIÓN | Scoop.it

When it comes to apps, I give up. Every day there are a few dozen more that will change everything, make our lives easier, and our academic lives more enriching. No one can possibly stay on top of it, which is why I depend on the wisdom of others to keep me informed. To paraphrase Henry Jenkins in Convergence Culture, 'There's too much for everyone to know, everyone knows something, and we have no choice but to work together.' That's why I depend on lists of apps like these to keep me in the loop. I pass it on for your edification

Explain a Website is an app created by Morris Cooke, the author of Explain Everything.

Great app for educational purposes when you need to demonstrate to your students how to navigate a certain website or a web page.

This is something ipad users have been waiting for. It gives users the ability to create screencasts of web pages on their ipad.
