iPads Changing the Way You Learn
This site is a good place place for sharing ideas about transforming normal k-12 classroom into global learning communities. Students should be introduced to information literacy, global communications, collaboration, and building strategic relationships. Students should be encouraged to create their own learning opportunities to prepare then for a life of eventual career change situations.

The History 2.0 Classroom: iPad Hieroglyphics

The History 2.0 Classroom: iPad Hieroglyphics | iPads Changing the Way You Learn | Scoop.it

Over the past few years I have facilitated a number of iPad workshops with teachers from across the country.  One observation that I have made is that when anyone (not just teachers) are new to iPads (or any device), they have a difficult time deciphering the meaning of the icons that appear consistently throughout apps.

Analyzing iPad Myths in Education - teachingwithipad.org

Analyzing iPad Myths in Education - teachingwithipad.org | iPads Changing the Way You Learn | Scoop.it

 - teachingwithipad.org"Preamble: This article is to support iPads in teaching. However, it is not to devalue the benefits of a great teacher. The execution of iPads in class is only going to go as far as the passions and mindset of the teacher allows it to. In other words, the iPad will never replace quality teaching.

I have enjoyed working again with Richard Wells on this post, despite the 19 hour time difference (which, I guess, is only a five hour one!). If you haven't read our previous post, please check it out: The Habits and Philosophy of an Effective iPad Teacher. I look forward to one day working alongside Richard, perhaps even in person!

The following post will give reasons and arguments FOR teaching with iPads. We hope it will give you some key justification points in your teaching journey to implementing proper technology (specifically, with iPads) into your everyday teaching."

iPads in Teaching - What Are They For? - Ideas Out There

iPads in Teaching - What Are They For? - Ideas Out There | iPads Changing the Way You Learn | Scoop.it

"This picture was drawn in response to a post called 'Drawing On A Napkin: Is This How iPads Function In A Traditional Classroom?' by the esteemed Terry Heick.

Mine was not drawn on a napkin, but on Notability. And, to answer that snarky Johannesburg based iPad trainer who cannot believe I can do what I do using the iPad, yes I did create it myself!

This is what I think iPads are 'for' in education. Let me know what you think."

"The idea of technology being used to help children who really need different approaches is so important," she said. It's crucial, however, she agreed, to understand that the iPad "was simply a tool" and that it was an adjunct to the traditional interventions that aimed to improve communication and other developmental advances.

Paid apps gone free: This $50 app that teaches you to play guitar is now free - BGR | iPads Changing the Way You Learn | Scoop.it

"Somewhere within us all lives a rock beast waiting to break free. Those looking to uncage the animal inside themselves have a wide range of new options in the digital age, and one of the highest rated options out there for the iPhone and iPad is now free for a limited time.

Guitar Lessons: Rock Prodigy by music software maker The Way of H is a nifty app for iOS devices that turns learning how to play the guitar into something of a game. Unlike most rival products, however, the app is interactive — it listens to you play and provides feedback to help."

Moving at the Speed of Creativity | Share iPad-created eBook with DropBox | iPads Changing the Way You Learn | Scoop.it

Students in my “Mapping Media to the Common Core: Part 2″ course this semester (offered through Montana CSPD and the University of Montana) have learned how to create enhanced eBooks on their iPads using the fantastic app, “Book Creator” by Red Jumper. In this post, I’ll describe how you can share an eBook created with Book Creator via a free DropBox account and the DropBox app, along with a free KidBlog website and the KidBlog app for iPad. The KidBlog and DropBox apps are free. Book Creator has a free app which allows users to create 1 eBook, the commercial version is $5 and allows unlimited numbers of eBooks to be created. Apple Volume Purchase Plan (VPP) discounts are available for Book Creator.
