Last year, 40 tablet computers were delivered to the children of two remote Ethiopian villages. The villagers were 100-percent illiterate—the kids had never seen road signs, product labels, or printed material of any kind.
I love my iPad. It is fantastic for creation content, curration, as a personal reader, for social networks, and more. What I find frustrating about it is multitasking which is clunky and to be honest for any serious writing tasks I have to do, I much prefer my Mac.

"When Apple announced Airdrop this past June, I knew it would be a great feature for teachers with iPads. A common complaint about iPads in the classroom was that it wasn’t necessarily easy to transfer student work in the Camera Roll to the teacher. With no USB connection and no SD card slot, how was a teachersupposed to collect student work? Email would work for small files, but videos were much too large to send. Dropbox could be a solution, but that would require students to set up their own accounts, problematic if they are under a certain age. Enter AirDrop, a seamless and very quick way to transfer files via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections between “nearby” devices."

If the concept of augmented reality if all new to you then here is a brief definition of it: Augmented Reality is exactly what the name implies: an augmented version of realty created by mixing technology with the known world. It might be a distorted, augmented, or less augmented version of the actual world but in its basic form, augmented reality is a simulation or rather a way of superimposing digital contents into the real context."
I would really like to get into a conversation with others who are using aurasma to do this. I have known about it for a while, but never taken the next step apart from using armedia and SketchUp and Zooburst. Are you using Augmented reality in your classes and if so in what ways?
"The interest in inquiry-based learning seems to ebb and flow based on–well, it’s not clear why it ever ebbs.
In short, it is a student-centered, Constructivist approach to learning that requires critical thinking, and benefits from technology, collaboration, resourcefulness, and other modern learning skills that never seem to fall out of favor themselves.

That is quite a hefty question too. There are over 90,000 iOS apps in the Education category of the App Store. Since apps that teachers can use fall into other categories too, the number of choices is well above 100,000. Does your head hurt yet?"

It should always come down to good teaching and learning practice. The tech is the tool. A very cool tool, but not necessarily the focus of learning.
`As I somewhat overtly stated in the last post, I now reside as an Ed Tech at Westlake HS. While I am still acclimating to the size of the campus and getting to know the staff and students, I did have a chance to drop in on a few classrooms piloting a mobile-friendly seating solution. Interested in gleaning initial findings from both the teachers and the students, I gathered a bit of anecdotal and pictorial data.
