Reaching Different Learning Styles With The iPad

Reaching Different Learning Styles With The iPad | iPads and iPods in Education | Scoop.it

"How do you learn best?  For me, it depends on what I am learning.  Sometimes I need to take notes, other times I need to think out loud.  Some things are easier to learn with another person while with other things, I need to be alone.  My guess is most of us have different styles for learning depending on what it is we are working on."

"So you’ve had your iPad for a while now, and you are starting to find it difficult to remember where all of your apps are. Maybe you have a few go-to apps that you have memorized the location of, but where did that birthday card making app go that you downloaded three months ago?

If you have more apps than you know what to do with, it is time to weed out the old ones and organize what you want to keep into folders for quick access."

No one goes to the hardware store to buy a drill; they go because they need to make a hole in something. So, I organize my apps by verbs, not nouns: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1477426/How%20to%20Organize%20App%20on%20your%20ipad.png

How Nearpod Brought Active Learning To My Classroom - Edudemic

How Nearpod Brought Active Learning To My Classroom - Edudemic | iPads and iPods in Education | Scoop.it
I took a chance and tried using Nearpod in my classroom. What happened next has changed my classroom forever.
mrsjgarcia's insight:

I like Nearpod and have used it with my classes a few times and thought it a powerful tool. I guess the biggest issue in working with tablets in the classroom is the wifi signal. I have found that my slides can be slow to load, so my advice, if this happens to you, is to get the slides loading and then work on a starter activity for a few minutes.

"Teachers who are fighting for stronger tech integration in their schools often come against opposition from people who believe technology not have a positive effect on student learning. This is particularly true with iPads, devices that many people see as a device for content consumption, not creation. Below is a list of studies into iPads and learning, with dot points about what students the study relates to, the subjects involved and the results."
