Apple TV Settings for the Classroom - Learning in Hand

Apple TV Settings for the Classroom - Learning in Hand | ipadinschool | Scoop.it
If there’s an Apple TV in the classroom, it’s most likely used to mirror teacher and student iPads or MacBooks. There are plenty of other ways to display an iPad on a large screen, and Apple TV is one of the most popular because it has AirPlay. AirPlay is Apple’s technology that will stream a live view of whatever is on an iOS device's screen. This is why Apple TV is so popular. This mirroring ability through AirPlay is built into all iPads (except the first generation iPad) and all newer iPhones and iPod touches.

The Best iPad Apps to Use with SAMR Model ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | ipadinschool | Scoop.it

"SAMR model is a conceptual framework developed by  Dr. Ruben Puentedura to help you better integrate technology in your instruction. SAMR stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition. Each of these four levels correspond with a set of tech-based activities and learning tasks. The strength of SAMR model is that it provides teachers with a robust method to gauge and assess the efficacy of the technology they and their students use in class. Smart Apps For Special Needs: 10 Apps for Teaching Emotions and Calming Skills

Smart Apps For Special Needs: 10 Apps for Teaching Emotions and Calming Skills | ipadinschool | Scoop.it

"My husband learned pretty early on in our marriage that telling me to "relax" when I was feeling stressed was not in his best interest. My response is always more favorable when he offers to help or even just listen. This came to mind when I read an article by behavior specialist, Jessica Minahan, on teaching children self-calming skills. As teachers, parents and therapists, we often tell children to relax or calm down, but many children don't know how and behavior can escalate. The article explains three simple steps to help kids learn to self-calm: teach students to identify emotions, teach students self-calming strategies and practice with the student. Be sure to read the full article here for some great suggestions on how to implement these steps. I've also rounded up ten apps that can be used to address these skills"
