BYOD is becoming more and more popular. Please don't confuse students using this just to text and play games. If you teach students that technology such as this is a tool for education and show them how to use it, they will.

We all need some down time, on the one hand, and many of us need to stretch our brains, on the other hand. Smart phones with appropriate apps can be used for polling, note sharing, quizzes... try one app first as part of your class time. Delete the scoop?

What a great way to introduce dissection to students.

This would be good practice even if you are going to let them dissect an actual frog. Delete the scoop?

That is all it takes. Being brave enough to change just one thing. Instead of this...do that. Tech is a tool. Pick the right tool for job!
Marilyn Korhonen's curator insight,
June 11, 9:31 AM
This is great advice for all change - It is often easier to change one thing and then another and another rather than to face a complete transformation. Delete the scoop?

It is more fun to learn creating you own story. The word story makes it sound like a fantasy tale, but it could be steps in a process, a summary of what you have learned in class, or a biography Delete the scoop?

No one goes to the hardware store to buy a drill; they go because they need to make a hole in something. So, I organize my apps by verbs, not nouns: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1477426/How%20to%20Organize%20App%20on%20your%20ipad.png

Maybe this is something that you've always wanted to do? Have your iPad apps organized in alphabetical order. This would be a nightmare for me (a visual learner) as more often than not I don't necessarily know the name of the app but I know what the icon looks like (or the folder that I have put it into). I choose to organize my apps into folders eg ABC's, Word Work, Nurturing Thinking etc. Keep in mind though I use my device predominantly for 'modelling' and to inform others so I have hundreds (did I say hundreds.....my 64gb device is almost full AGAIN).
If though, you have individual devices assigned to your classroom that are not jam packed with too many Apps, this may be just the thing for you!
John Pearce's curator insight,
May 8, 9:39 PM
I must admit that I prefer to organise my apps under folders according to type, (though there are times that this system also 'lets me down'). This could be a useful strategy for user who have quite a few screens of apps.

I definitely understand - my 32 GB iPad is completely full. I have to keep deleting and reinstalling the apps that I do need to use.
