How To Capture Ideas at Presentations and Events by Doing Visual Recording on the iPad

Robin Good: Rachel Smith explains in very simple words how you can use your iPad to capture and record visually the key ideas and concepts presented during a lecture, keynote, training class or presentation.

She provides a good round-up of four relevant tools that can be used for this task, analyzing their key pros and cons as well as providing logistic and technical advice on how to best organize and setup yourself for doing visual recording on the iPad.

As similar tools will provide more ready-made icons, templates and patterns available for this kind of real-time idea-capturing, this rare and pioneering visual recording work will begin to catch up even more rapidly.

Very useful. 8/10

¿Donde está el futuro de la biblioteca escolar? Esta puede expandirse y resituarte si no se limita a sí misma y se vincula en toda su esencia a las características propias de la sociedad red | IPAD, un nuevo concepto socio-educativo! | Scoop.it

"El futuro de la biblioteca escolar se argumenta en su función mediadora y formadora, que es en esencia aquello que ha fundamentado de forma permanente su sentido y razón de ser. Aunque esta función siempre ha existido intrínseca, ahora debe ser explicita y reconocida por su extraordinaria relevancia social.  Así pues la función mediadora y formativa aparece como el aspecto fundamental que marca el futuro y posibilidad de la biblioteca escolar en la sociedad contemporánea."

The Touch-Screen Generation

The Touch-Screen Generation | IPAD, un nuevo concepto socio-educativo! | Scoop.it

To date, no body of research has definitively proved that the iPad will make your preschooler smarter or teach her to speak Chinese, or alternatively that it will rust her neural circuitry—the device has been out for only three years, not much more than the time it takes some academics to find funding and gather research subjects. So what’s a parent to do?

This article discusses technology for children and the way they play their games on things like iPad's tablets and more. Research has shown that since children started playing mind rattling games on these resources they have improved their ability to learn at a young age. This is why it is important that applications for children continue to advance. So if you read this article you will realize that this form of technology is important.

As a parent of three under age 5, always a fascinating topic. As a former teacher, fascinated for the potential. As a borderline millenial, and a member of the generation who grew up with the TV babysitter, fascinated to see where it all leads

A Great iPad Manual for Every Teacher ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

A Great iPad Manual for Every Teacher ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | IPAD, un nuevo concepto socio-educativo! | Scoop.it

"A few weeks ago I posted here a poster on iPad basics which many of you have downloaded to use with their students in the class. Today, I am sharing with you another great resource on iPad. This is not a graphic but a quick reference card on everything you and your students need to know about iPad. From the hardware to networking features , this little manual can serve as a leading guide to a better manipulation of  your iPad.
I am not sure how much iPading you are doing in your classroom but whether you use iPad just occasionally or you adopt it as a consistent learning and teaching tool,  the reference card below will definitely give you a hand in improving your iPad use. I suggest that you share it with your students and go through it with them section by section and make sure they understand it before they start using their iPads again.

Ana Cristina Pratas's curator insight, March 21, 2013 11:46 PM

As educators, we need to teach about digital footprints and how they can impact our lives, both online and offline. Yet, can we sometimes inadvertently condone or not condone online attitudes. For example, it  can be difficult to avoid playing into the culture of public shaming that often occurs in social media. Perhaps the public shaming of individuals who have made poor online presence choices, generating “digital tattoos” as some have coined it (prints you are stuck with), is not the best way to instill an attitude of thoughtful dialogue and respect with regard to digital citizenship. After all, if public shaming becomes the norm, will society become immune to social consequences? Additionally, some may view a tattoo as a work of art or a sign of creativity. Instead, a willingness to listen, understand, help and support may set a better example. Through listening, we can create opportunities to help each other navigate this difficult digital world (a world that will undoubtedly see us make many more mistakes). Let’s listen; together we might just find balance!

Brad Ovenell-Carter's curator insight, March 22, 2013 2:10 PM

As you say Ana, this is a journey we (in schools) have to make together with students and their families. No one really knows where all this will land and every community will have different needs so the only possible way forward is through constant dialogue with all stakeholders. At my school, we're developing that conversation arounf the Brand of Me, something I think sounds more proactive that digital footprints or tattoos; those are things you leave behind, passively. See this discussion over on Bill Ferriter's blog: http://teacherleaders.typepad.com/the_tempered_radical/2013/03/guest-post-braddo-on-digital-footprints.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+the_tempered_radical+(The+Tempered+Radical)

My friend Will Richardson is launching a new resource for parents and educators, and after reading the first newsletter I think this will provide valuable information to parents (and educators) who need a better understanding of the major shifts that are occurring in and outside of school as a result of emerging technologies. Weekly topics will include: changes in higher ed, the future of work, learning with technology (and without) for all ages, new literacies, rethinking schools and classrooms, parenting around technology and much more. This looks like great stuff!

The so called digital natives, children of today, they are familiar with the use of technology but not necessarily mean they are fluent to creatively create things with it. Analogues to expert to read but can’t write. Interesting and I tend to agree with the speaker. In this video the speaker then move to promote programming or coding as part of the learning creativity; it might be one size fits all to all subject matter, we can find ways in to be a creative digital ‘writer’, not just ‘reader’.

I think this is interesting.. and as we think about the whole integrated care delivery model, this data and information will play a critical part. Of those practices that Humana will own or be part of in a significant way, I believe we can make this happen. For those docs with small practices, we would need to find the right motivation to have them leverage this info. Do we offer it to them? such as ipads for usage during an office visit? we have to make it simple yet provide the best information so they could provide the best quality of care.
Scott Normandin's comment, May 16, 2014 10:24 PM
the question begs: is/are applications that make access to health care the domain of the younger generation, or as some would content, are applications an additional level of complication to our senior population. Personal experience from the lens of my parents is that "absent" a vetted and universally adopted application that supports a universal view for all, this may by perceived as the "new best new toy" and fade with time. Our seniors; albeit are digital immigrants, working their way into the development of new technologies clumsily, whereas Gen X/Y find the technology adaptable, available and importantly expendable when the next best thing comes available. What defines consumerization: speed of development and release, or the ability to support end users?
